What do you guys know about the Shanghai Hold Out? Very new, extremely rare. Have you seen it? Have you been to Shanghai? Have you seen the guy? I got the dope from a guy with feet on the ground in Shanghai, but info is sketchy. Please respond here with all information at your disposal.

Lets hear what you got. No one knows anything yet it seems.

In time, in time. Sorry, not trying to tease, but I'm not at liberty to speak about it. It may be revolutionary, it may be useless. Won't know till our guy in Shanghai returns with the goods and proper testing can be done.
Just trying to feel people out to see what they are hearing about some of the new things coming from the East. Especially from the streets of Shanghi.

Don't know if it's what you're talking about, but there have been stories of an Asian cheater caught recently with a modern version of a Kepplinger (or Martin, if you prefer) holdout.
According to the stories it was electric and operated by hidden switches (in the shoes perhaps?). I'm not sure of the details but the gist of the story seems solid. Jason

This system is completely different in style, and to a large degree, in function, than a Kep/Martin holdout. But thanks for the info. Anyone else hear any stories from the mysterious East?

Over there when you get caught cheating they put you in a room with a bunch of scary para-military types in fatigues with semi-automatics, and then are forced to expose your cheating method on a table with a layout, all as evidence against you. They were two guys caught cheating at baccarat, and were noticeably scared ****less. It was a pretty funny vid.

The video you watched was of Baccarat cheats and the hold out device was battery operated; but not the telescoping kind that is being sold presently on an asian gambling site. It was a real nice piece. You probably remember the nifty way they stole the card..? They demonstrated it over and over again for officials while sweat poured off there brows and semi automatics sat leaning against the wall. Awesome vid!

Ha ha … he looked like he was so scared he was going to hurl. They kept telling him to do it again and again and were taking pictures from all angles and this guy was ABSOLUTELY compliant with there requests. He gave up the farm!

By the way , they executed the scam very nicely.I wonder how long they went before getting caught? I'd wager it was quite a while judging from the pictures of all their alias I.D.'s and passports and chips from various casino's in their luggage ( if I'm remembering correctly ).

I think that kind of video footages is highly kept secret between casinos and security staff. Just to prevent public diffusion and give some ideas to casinos wannabe cheaters.
What makes me wonder is with all those pocket mass storage devices, pocket video cams, and Internet mass diffusion, someday, somewhere, someone working within casino security rooms could easily spread those secret footages, highly confidential reports or internal documents regarding casino cheating, just for fun, revenge, or money... Like for blockbusters movies, it's usual practice for some people (technicians, press...) to release the film on the Internet while it's still aired on cinemas (sometimes even before the release...). |

This incident happened about 15 years ago. The tape got out, it was all over the place. I have seen clips twice on television. In the original non edited version the whole table is turned over, chips and cards go flying it looked like a football game. The player and his muscle were both tackled to the floor, the muscle was knocked about ten feet before he went down. The played somehow managed to throw the device in the air even with several Gaming Control agents on him. As soon as he was cuffed up the agents went looking for the evidence, when one finds it he holds it up for the others to see then puts it in his top pocket.
Before this incident happened I kept hearing stories about "the cowboy and his muscle" making these plays all over Vegas, when the heat came they would fight their way out, guess the GC guys got tired of getting beat up. They do have guns but don't want to pull them out in the casino. Hope my memory has served me well...........Ron |
