Hi Curtis. I, as well as many of my fellow Coinaholics, am very excited about the Coinvention. Meeting all the Coinmen( and hopefully Coinwomen hee hee) from around the world and spending time with THE MASTERS will be something we won't soon forget. I have a few questions regarding the event eventhough it's 6 months and some change away .
I'm coming for the entire LVMI Convention(My 1st convention ) but I'm not into studying any magic other then coins. I know it's sounds kinda close minded, but I know what I like. I do enjoy watching other magic performed, but I really want to make this convention a learning experience. Do you think there will be a lot of coinworkers at the LVMI convention? I heard that Shoot Ogawa and yourself will be giving lectures. Will these lectures be on only coins or a variety of different magic? I'm sure your other material is excellent but your coins WOW!! Either way, I'm there!! Is anyone attending the Coinvention also planning on attending all 3 days of the LVMI convention? If so, we should just start the Coinvention a couple days early!!! Curtis, when you and Shoot finish your lectures, I think the Coinvention should begin ( not offically of course). Having only one day designated as The Coinvention isn't a lot but I understand the difficulty of even getting that! Thank you for putting in the time Curtis. I think we have to make the most out of the 4 days were all gonna be there and whenever possible think, drink, eat, sleep,_ _ _ _ , COINS, COINS, COINS. Thanks, Scott |

Scott,
As one who attended LVMI last year, and will be this year I can tell you that you will not be at a loss to find coin magic. Since the LVMI is all close up everyone typically has at least something with coins to do. You can also just hang out with the guys with your same interest. I would be willing to bet that a nice percentage of Coinventioneers will be at LVMI. |

Scott, Danny has dedicated one show of the LVMI to coins only. I will lecture on coinwork, and will be doing mainly, if not all, coins in my segments of the LVMI shows. My lecture is currently scheduled for 10:00pm, and I anticipate that a session will develop from there until the ned for sleep or food overtakes us.
Shoot Ogawa, Bob Kohler, and a bunch of other guys will be at LVMI, and I thnk you'll find their coin work interesting, to say the least. Since this is your first convention, you may not know this, but if you're not interested in what's officialy going on, you will probably run into people who feel the same way, and you will probably also agree on what is interesting, and an unofficial event will have begun. I think I actually attended two whole events in two days at the IBM convention last year. We are also looking to video some of the DVD material during LVMI. I will be soliciting material also. So yes, I think there will be plenty of coin magic going on.

Hey, Scott, have you considered a twelve step program? Just kidding. This will be my first convention, too. And I can't wait. Not only all these luminaries of coin magic, but a great line up all around. Something for everyone including coinaholics. And if anyone gets bored with close-up and coins and has a $100 to spare, they can always go see Siegfried and Roy. Actually, make that $105.50. But, I can't imagine I will be leaving the San Remo anytime during those four days. See you there.

I'm sure you guys that have been to conventions before will be sure to make the new guys feel at home, give them the Roger Klause orientation, filling them in on the old traditions like "buying a meal for the first magician you meet" and how to learn the location of the double-secret sessions from studying the keno boards.

Thanks for your posts everyone. I'm definitly looking forward to meeting all of you at the LVMI.
One person that I haven't seen mentioned along with the Coinvention is Jay Sankey. Does anyone know if he is planning on attending? With Revolutionary Coin Magic coming out last year (great video), I would think he would want to be there. Thanks, Scott |

I'm not even sure if anyone let Sankey know about it!

Well, by my count we've got two, counting Izzy. These are going to be some really intense workshops for you two guys.
Come on guys, sign up now or I'll have to cancel the "throw your Ramsay stack against the wall" event Reed is planning.

I think I could handle just you and I sitting at a table talking coins with Roth, Kam, Rubinstein, McClintock, Harbottle, Kohler, Watkins, maybe Kurtzzzzzzzzzz........Sorry, I passed there out for a minute or two. I'm O.K now . I think it may be just a little more crowded than that. Just a hunch. See you all there!!! Scott |
