Doug, your avatar's restored from that embarrassing old one you had (and then almost simultaneously reported having to evacuate).
The big question is ... are you back home, and is everything OK? |

Thank you for the concern. All is well. It missed us by a couple of miles and a wind shift.
Seems that the old photo breaks a rule...I had a few good one planned too. Again, thank you.

Yes Doug
Good to know that you are safe. That other avatar really rubbed me the wrong way, it made you look younger than me.

Breaks a rule? You mean they have a rule against using an old photo? There are people on here whose avatars are CARTOONS for crying out loud!

Haha...oh well. Not my house or my rules. I think Steve just wants everyone up to date for Homeland Security.
And Ross...Embarassing?

Higleys Avatar was in clear violation of the rules which state;
"When choosing your photo, we ask that you use one that best represents how you look now. I do not want to see a photo of you when you were a baby, or a small child, or taken 20 years ago when you were in the army." (smilie faces omitted). Which is why I was forced to report him to the staff, sorry Doug. If I let you do it, I'd have to let everyone do it.

Vandy...how do you get away with picture of a turd?
My photo was not a baby or small child or taken 20 years ago when I was in the Army...(I was in the Army 44 years ago) and it was not a turd costume from a past Halloween! Please tell me my friend Vandy Grift is not a Hall Monitor! A turd maybe but not a Hall Monitor!

That's a reliefe (or how ever you spell it)...I take back the turd comment...I did PM Dave though that your avatar was blurry and 'turd like'.
Gotta admit...Swirlie was out of my lexicon. I can imagine though. :-0

It may be "turdlike" but it's not blurry. It's a photo mosaic made up of pictures of over 200 magicians. Created by Neomagic from this website. I wish he hadn't disappered. He had a really cool image of Vernon made up from the text of Expert at the Card Table, that was really neat. I'd like to see that again.

Glad you didn't get hit Doug.
Friend of my families bought a place up around Nevada City off highway 49 in Gold Country. Dave was married to a nutty woman who was never happy with any house and pushed him to remodel and rebuild and re-everything, worse than Sarah Winchester. They were in Phoenix on a trip when the 49er fire hit and Dave knew that the loss in the area he lived was almost complete so they waited a week before going back to see what could be salvaged, he hoped his truck and boat survived some how. They get back and drive through what seemed like miles of destruction, burnt homes and cars, like a war zone. He gets to his lot, actually doing a little happy dance inside because he was going to bulldoze the place to start new to satisfy his nutty wife and this way the insurance will actually cover the main rebuild! He goes up his street and there....with smiling firemen in front of it, the only house to not burn.....his. Next to it, the burnt truck and boat. |

Yeah....the boat. I loved that boat. He rebuilt the house, it came out great, then his wife (now passed) wanted 'all the weeds and rocks off the property and grass planted". This was a rural in the woods area! People moved there because of the rocks and 'weeds'! He actually paid a fortune to get the big rocks moved and tore up a lot of the 'natural surroundings' to shut her up before she died. She was German by the way, which has nothing to do with her obsession but it just made her demands sound sillier.

The last time I saw her she was outside with her grandkids pulling out 'weeds' (they were wild grasses and that is where they were meant to be so they were not weeds, just in her mind).
