You have one more week to go before the end of daylight saving time.
Daylight saving time typically ends the last weekend of October, but starting this year, 2007, a change in federal law changes the date. Clocks should be set back one hour at 2 a.m. Nov. 4. |

It changed here last night.
So why the change in the law in the States? A week makes how much difference in energy savings? Or is it about carbon in the atmosphere? |

Why change the law?
George bush came up with this so that farmers, for some reason I heard peanut farmers, can have more time to work in the fields. I don't know why they cant just get up earlier. Screw the whole country for on group of people.

A Google search for 'Daylight Savings Time' will answer your questions.
I hear ya Jerrine. I didn't know about the change, have a couple of auto-adjust appliances and the TV stations were displaying different times. That's one reason I posted this. |

It's difficult to get up and go to work at 7:30 a.m. when it's so dark and then it's dark again driving home at 6 p.m. It'll probable help to relieve some seasonal depression, in addition to other benefits stated above.

While I live in Las Vegas myself, I have a few buddies in Arizona who laugh at people having to change their clocks. Most, but not all, of Arizona doesn't observe DST. When everybody else in the US changes their clocks, most of Arizona effectively changes which time zone they're in.

Congress passed the Energy Act of 2005 which started daylight-saving time one month earlier in the spring and extends it one week later in the fall, beginning in 2007. Other countries followed the U.S. lead on this (at least, Canada did). From what I've read, most experts think the savings in energy will be minimal and may even backfire. --- Note 2 (c) and (d) below. http://www.timeanddate.com/laws/us/energypolicyact2005.html The Amendment Section 110 —Daylight Savings describes the changes in the Uniform Time Act. It is effective on March 1, 2007, which means that the first time the new dates are used are in 2007 (with Daylight Saving Time starting on Sunday, March 11, 2007). This is the amendment text in Section 110: SEC. 110. DAYLIGHT SAVINGS. (a) Amendment—Section 3(a) of the Uniform Time Act of 1966 (15 U.S.C. 260a(a)) is amended (1) by striking “first Sunday of April” and inserting “second Sunday of March”; and (2) by striking “last Sunday of October” and inserting “first Sunday of November”. (b) Effective Date.—Subsection (a) shall take effect 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act or March 1, 2007, whichever is later. (c) Report to Congress.—Not later than 9 months after the effective date stated in subsection (b), the Secretary shall report to Congress on the impact of this section on energy consumption in the United States. (d) Right TO Revert.—Congress retains the right to revert the Daylight Saving Time back to the 2005 time schedules once the Department study is complete.

Did they move daylight savings back a week or something? Heh cause my alarmclock is supposed to set itself for things like this, and it changed today.
