I got a Copper/silver for free, I love it! Unfortunately it is a Sterling, but it was free. The only problem I have is the sound when it hit a table, it doesn’t sound like a real coin. I know that it is the joint that creates the sound but I was wondering if the higher level C/S coins have the same problem? I doubt it but thought I would ask. Thanks

My Schoolcraft copper/silver sounds fine hitting the table, but for some reason I hate the sound it makes when it hits the floor. I guess it is, because it shouldn't have hit the floor in the first place. Anyway, it was a bit more expensive than your freebee. Good luck with yours Smithpaul and I hope it keeps hitting the table.....

Ouch, I'm afraid that if that happens it will break apart. Explain that to a layman. (but hey then I could use some felsic glue to repair it and have a shimmed c/s)

I figured I would just add some iron shavings to whatever glue I used when the cheap C/S broke apart.

My favorite C/s coins are two ultimate copper silvers produced by sterling in the early 80's, the copper is blended into the half, and the coins ring true.

There is some wonderful work done in making magicians' coins. We know it but can't tell the audience. Ever felt cheated?

PS --- My first shell half was given to me by a merchant in the very early 60s. He felt cheated someone had given him a "fake" coin with the silver scraped out. (I refunded his $.50 to him!)
