Well...let's get this straight, I don't work for Virtual Soundman in any capacity, and have never received money from them, but I do HIGHLY endorse their products. Looks like from the site (which is back up) they have developed a WINNER. It's the new PA with an iCue2 management system built in. Speakers, wireless mic and iCue all in one small, easy-to-carry package. If you've been looking for something like this...that's how I would go (and AM going, since mine's been ordered for a while).
For those of you who have the older, boom-box style iCue2 TTPA (I've seen a couple up for sale here in the last few months)...they're apparently offering a BIG trade in on those, towards the purchase of the newer one! As a previous customer (I own an original iCue2, not the mini and an iPrompter scrolling display), I get occasional emails, and the one I just got mentioned this deal. Also, a second remote at no cost...that'll save ya BIG BUCKS! This isn't an ad...I'm not a dealer or even a good salesman, for that matter. Anybody else sold on this new unit? Steve |

WOW...the updated site (I didn't even notice it earlier) is selling refurbished iCue2 units!

I am interested in this product. I don't quite get why the lowest end product has no iCue management system in it, though. Are they only selling it as a PA system / microphone?
I have to admit, it makes me smile everytime I read that it has an "music duck" built into it. Quack quack! Is that a typo, or is the "music duck" something I've never heard of before? - Donald

"Duck" is a British term for audio compression.
When the unit senses a signal from the microphone (your voice) it automatically "ducks", or reduces the volume of the music. The theory behind this is that it makes the vocals easier to hear when the music is reduced in volume. Accurate settings are pretty important with this feature lest the music wind up going up and down in volume like a yo-yo every time you open your mouth. We call the actual hardware a "compressor", the British call the same piece of hardware a "ducker". |

I asked Kelly about that PA without the iCue2 management system, and that's exactly what it's for..people who just want a PA. Mine's already ordered!

Anybody else get their postcard from VSM in the mail about this item recently? Looks like we're getting close to getting this thing in our little hands! Can't wait. Quality sound without all the wires and setup!

Hi Steve -
Which version are you ordering, and with what add-ons? Just curious. - Donald

I'm getting the deluxe model, I think. Haven't really decided between the two. The little "cube" model isn't offered anymore, there were some problems with it, so they decided to not produce it. I think I'll have to get the display, and a click-feel remote is a must.
I've been told they should be shipped on/about the first or second week of December. Hope so! Donald, are you considering one? I love my Anchor Explorer-Pro speaker/amp/mixer, but this will definitely simplify setup for shows. Steve |

I am considering the deluxe one, along with the display, too.
Most likely purchasing in January. But I will look for some reviews between now and then. - Donald

Do you own any VSM products? I have the iCue2, and can't recommend this highly enough! Since this has the iCue2 built in, along with the wireless mic, it should be a winner. Customer service is second to none, as well. If this is like the other products...I'd buy (order) soon!

No, I don't own any VSM products. A couple of my friends use them, though.

Hopefully, they're using the newer items, like the iCue2 and not the old VSM items. They're pretty antiquated. Nothing simpler than using an iPod for the audio. I used a ShowTech for almost 15 years, and that could be quite frustrating when it would get out of sync. That can't happen with the iCue2!
I'm also getting the headset mic with my PA. Steve |

I was thinking of going that way, too, with the headset mic.
I was wondering what the difference in quality is between the regular microphone headset, and the tiny microphone headset? One you can add-on for $10, and the other is $99. Is it just that the ball in front of your mouth is less noticeable, or is the quality better? - Donald

In all actuality, the larger, ball-type mic is better quality. Most people will forgo this difference in favor of being less noticable. I will probably get an adapter cord eventually to plug my Countryman E-6 into the beltpack that comes with the iCue2. The brand is Gemini (the one VSM is using) and I used a Gemini wireless mic for YEARS before I got this Countryman, and the Gemini is UNSURPASSED for reliablilty in a mic that's moderately priced! I never had dropouts or problems with it. Originally, I had a lavalier with it, but bought the headset eventually.

And...if the iCue2 PA is out of your budget range, they do (or did) have a couple of refurbished (traded in on a larger item) regular iCue2 models for sale, pretty darned cheap!

Not yet...from what I've heard from Kelly Duro, Apple has upgraded the chip inside the new iPod, and the iCue2 software has to be updated alongside it to make sure the sync is perfect. Couple more weeks, and I'll have my PA in my hot little hands! Heh heh..(mad scientist laugh, wringing hands in an evil fashion)..
Guess I'll just have to make due with my regular iCue2 until the new one arrives! Steve |
