And why is the JOKER in the bag?

Witness can only be performed with the Joker, it is not possible with any other card. With Deuce Bag, only the 2 can be used, if you try to use another card, the trick will just not work.

Ok, what is your justifiction of keeping the JOKER in the bag in thr first place?
By the way, though off topic, you could have a JOKER in your WOW face up, have them fold the bag over it and then do the change. Just a crazy idea. |

What's the justification for having metal cups and little red balls, pennies the size of half dollars, little brass pill boxes or a deck of cards in your pocket while at work, school or a bar for that matter?!?!?! Sometimes the justification is simply that you like to do magic tricks and these are the props needed for that particular effect! Just my thoughts! |

With all due respect, I am looking for some suggestions NOT a lecture though you are both correct. I havethe JOKER wrapped in a baggie and this is secured to the deck by a rubber band so If some one asks me why is the joker kept seperate from the other cards would you reply? You like to do magic tricks and this is the props needed for that particular effect.

No lecture here JS, just saying that there doesn't always have to be justification. However, not knowing the trick (Witness) I may be way off base as I don't know if you can put the joker in the bag in front of the spec or if it needs to be there prior to starting the effect!
Now ya'll have me curious so I think I'll download this and give it a whirl! |

JSBLOOM,
I've now purchased the trick and I see where you're coming from. Sorry if I sounded snooty! As for your orig. question I suppose you could say that the Joker has to be seperated due to it's special powers or that it is known to escape on occasion etc etc. LOL Anyhooooo, GREAT trick and now I've got to get it down smooth and somehow make it my own! Mickey,
No problem. Those are two great ideas especially since the JOKER does escape I am glad you like it. |

Re: Why the Joker?
Haven't you played any card games where the jokers are wild and can become other cards if you need them to be? I think that's the justification. |

The question is why is the joker kept in the plastic bag though it would be pretty cool to force cards and have the JOKER turn into the last card to make the royal flush

I think the bag just adds to the implied impossibility for the spectator. It might seem overkill to us but I think it's powerful for laymen - 'I saw it in the bag, no way he could have switched it!'
The idea of finishing the royal flush during the reveal is GREAT!! |

I figured this out (i think) after watching several you tube presentations. I like the effect and going to purchase it for a couple of reasons. 1)I want to learn how to do it right. 2)The creator should be supported 3)I learn a lot better from a nice dvd instead of crappy you tube videos. I think this will kill, very cool.

Good afternoon booswain.
Good for you. It's a good effect that gets very nice reactions. It is very easy to do,(no difficult sleights) so it allows you to play up your performance and interact with your audience. It works well in a routine with several other effects that use a plastic bag. Indecent follows this very well. I actually use a Paul Harris effect before Witness that makes having that joker in the bag to begin with make all the sense in the world. John Kardel

A pen in a pen through bill effect should be an incidental object you just happen to be using to damage the bill. Similarly, the trick is not about the bag, it is just the object you choose to isolate the Joker with. As for presentations for having it in there, "it's a Wild Card, it needs to be contained, here, I'll show you what I mean" and bam, it changes.

How about making the card appear without a (the) JOKER !?
How about an empty bag and the card 'appears' inside ? How about that for a 'card thru window...errm card through solid plastic.... effect,,, Best, Silvio
