As someone with annual passes to my podiatrists office, I feel for you.
If nothing is working, you might want to consider surgery. As I understand it they can essentially take a drummel tool and file the spur down. Painful. Tough recovery time. But probably worth it in the long run. My best to you. Feet troubles are miserable. Robert

CC, the best I can tell you is what the doctor told me. Wear shoes that do not flex too much in the middle. I now have to wear New Balance tennie shoes (not sure of the proper term for sneakers these days) because they don't bend too much. Second is wear the shoes all the time and don't run around barefoot etc.. Lastly a big problem is weight. When I quit smoking years ago I put on over 100 pounds in about six months and that was a big cause. I just remembered, the shoes should have the heel higher than the front, not too much, but the heel needs to be higher.

I think I ran too much without proper shoes. The save on shoes. You should wear good shoes at all times. If you run very often, change them once every 3 months.

I wore shoes for years that didn't have the right heel over front ration and were too flexible. It was because my feet are very wide and have a high instep, shoe sells guys have said I have the highest instep they have seen, so the selection of shoes that fit me are very limited. Luckil this New Balance has special shoes.

Update! I finally received my special inserts for my shoes, they were not what I expected. They are of hard plastic with a leather top. It took awhile to get use to them but my heel is without pain unless I walk too much. What amazed me and was totally unexpected is as soon as I put the inserts in my knee pain, which has been bad enough to where I've had scans etc done with no damage shown, that has bothered me for years went away. I'd say the pain is down about 98% and I've actually had times when I couldn't walk because it hurt so much....inserts go in, no mas pain. If you told me that would happen I wouldn't have believed you.
So if you have foot pain or knee pain you might want to check out getting prescription shoe inserts. They cost a lot but man they are worth it. |

The key to not injuring your feet is to avoid footwear!

Actually bare feet are a major problem. I cannot be barefoot at all anymore outside of the rack or shower.

I had one. I got rid of it by a combination of rest and foot stretching exercises.

I was doing good then the dog was heading out a hole in my gate and I ran to get her and hit my heel real good...couldn't walk for a couple days. Got another injection and stretched it a few times a day and feel better.

Oddly, I got a heel spur walking barefoot in the sand for long hours in the summer. The cure for me? foot stretches and remaining barefoot but off the sand.
