John Bannon's Dawn Patrol. If you consider the use of the Straddle Faro Shuffle a slight, then this would not fall under the category of self working tricks.

For me, it's Frinell's free cut principle to perform a 4-ace production. The spec cuts the four piles and buries the aces, and yet there they are again at the bottom of each pile. Lovely.

Richard Sanders has a great one on one of the Sankey/Sanders Sessions DVDs. Shuffling Lesson by Chad Long is also a good one.

Caj, I believe it is! You can't beat a good 3 card monte routine. Then again, maybe you can with a good ambitious card routine.

Two I especially like: One is Overkill, from a Paul Harris DVD. And the other is a telephone number trick from a layman's book on Mental Magic with Cards I picked up at a Barnes and Noble. You can involve a number of audience members, with 4 freely selecting cards. At end of the trick, the person dealing the cards deals out their own phone number. The effect on the person is incredible when they realize the significance of the seven cards they dealt out.

Gemini twins... with a good delivery it is incredibly strong magic.. I ALWAYS perform this effect whenever I perform close up.
it is fab... think more mentalism, that's the way to go with this effect. |
