Yep, this should be in 'All in the Cards'...
I love Gemini Twins, but TNT and Intuition routined together absolutely kills.

Bannon's Play it Straight triumph. Its the only self-working effect I know, that causes specs to percieve you as having great manipulative skill.

Another vote for Lorayne's Impromptu OOTW.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Time and time again, I get great reactions from my presentaion of Larry Jennings' "Impossible" just throw in your favorite false shuffles and cuts, and this trick is unbelieveably devastating.

As someone has already mentioned, John Bannon's "Play It Straight Triumph" is outstanding. It is by far the easiest card trick I've ever learned, with amazing reactions.

My vote goes for Lennert Green's "Eye of Stonehenge". Very outstanding and a great story line.

I don't know the name but it's on page 91 of "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Magic Tricks" Shows a way of ALWAYS finding the mark's card without set up of any kind, using a "peeked" card. Really has amazed everyone I've shown and it's SO simple. If things are slow, sometimes I do it with a normal deck, after I sell the Svengali cards.

Any of the common gaffed decks are for the most part self working.

Side Swiped by Aronson. It's gaffed, self-working, and devestating.

When in need of one I always rely on the "Pulse Trick". If I need one that's in the spectators hands I really enjoy Untouched. Presentation makes these seem totally impossible. If you don't mind carrying a set-up around I would have to give the nod to Lennart Green's poker deal and his (4 + an "out")prediction effect where cards are turned face up from pile to pile at the spectator's whim and totally in the spectators hands and under their control. These seem absolutely impossible and provide maximum bang for the buck. The explinations seem so anti-climactic (even by Lennart's admission)because there seems to be no other way you could pull these off without MAJOR sleight of hand yet they are self working.

For the lay audience I go with Gary Oullet's Netherworld
For magicians or lay folk I use Jack Carpenter's Potent Presage. Both self working and both great effects. |
