Hi, guys. I appreciate the encouragement as I wash my hands clean of this whole mess. I am a freshmen at Purdue University. I am generally a good student, who tries not to drink or party, and I have pretty good grades. I was feeling really depressed last night (like suicidal depressed). I don't really know why, I just was. I decided to take a walk to get some fresh air. It was around 11:30 when I started this little journey. I don't remember much after that, only that I met this guy who I had seen maybe once before while here at Purdue. I then have these vague snapshots of being in this strange house, in which I had never been in in my whole life. I then woke up, in my dorm, in my room, with a massive headache, and lying in my vomit and other body fluids. I guess I got wasted. I really do not even know if it was that, or something worse. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I try to sort out the social, and legal (if there is any) ramifications that may be involved. I do not want one mistake to ruin a promising college career. Praise God that I made it back, alive, and not in a jail cell. Thank God for those good Samaritans who undoubtedly escorted my drunk(?) self back to my dorm. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, and God bless.

Your brief description certainly brings to mind the distinct possibility that something along the lines of GHB, Rohypnol, or Ketamine were involved.

As far as future ramifications to this incident, it would depend upon what happened and who had a cellphone camera to document these activites and if they post them to everyone's favorite site, "youtube".

OK your quote
"I am generally a good student, who tries not to drink or party"
is both insulting and disingenous.
I am a college graduate my wife is a college ghraduate and 3 of my children are college graduates and if asked we would say we were good students and did not drink or party- If your looking for sympathy sorry none here but in the advice category grow up and do what your suppose to not what you already know your not suppose to- Best wishes and maybe take some of this personal angst to a professional and not to a magic chat site-just OMHO.

Depression such as you described is a treatable condition, and may be caused by a chemical imbalance. Seek professional help before this happens again. The college I attended is well-known as the "BIGGEST PARTY COLLEGE" in the U.S., and I didn't do much of that while I was there.

Don't let a snappish remark from one unsympathetic person bum you out. I spent seven years in college, four as an undergrad and three doing post-graduate work. Most of the time, I was working and didn't have a chance to drink. However, I managed to do my share of partying. The horrible drugs that are now available were not as abundant then as they are now.

But there is a certain low-life mentality that seems to gravitate towards colleges that believes it is funny to spike drinks with anything from Everclear to LSD, Rohypnol, or whatever. When this happens, it's the fault of the spikor, not the spikee, if you get my drift.

If you are feeling depressed, one of the worst things you can do is drink alcohol. Alcohol is a depressant, and it will just make things worse.

Please seek professional help. Find a support group. And buck up.

It may help to immerse yourself in your studies.

Just be careful.

Brian,

I was going to PM you but felt it was something anyone should read. I went through everything you mentioned above and much more. I drank and did drugs in college and many times I awoke the next day not knowing what I had done the night before. I was a member of a fraternity that promoted it. You said you woke up in your bed lying in bodily fluids, well, I once woke up in a corn field, naked, covered in blood. Not my own blood.

I feel compelled to say to you that it gets better. I have a wonderful life now. There is forgiveness. No one is holding you back except you!!

From your post I believe that you have a relationship with God. Don't let the enemy hold you back. You have your entire life in front of you.

Believe it or not, your diet can play a big part in your overall mood. Try to clean your self out, eat some good food, drink a lot of water and try to do something healthy. Bars, drugs and bad influences are a Deadly mix, for sure.

Not only are your college "friends" trying to bring you down, the corporations who shouvle poison food are too.

Professional help could work, but like anything, you have to apply yourself. Don't let them give you any anti depresants, try to go natural (unless of course, if it's way out of controll) Check out GRAY NULL or ANDREW WEIL...

God bless.

Depression is an epidemic that people do not realize has gigantic impact in society - and the sad thing is most people suffering from it don't even realize it is an illness but blame themselves for being lazy, "bad" and other social stigmatic things... even when I've gotten people onto social assistance and support...they often think they are scamming the system... when they are not!

Greatest book I've read for the public is called "The Noonday Demon: The Atlas of Depression" - has everything you can think of in it told from a personal perspective.
