I am taking a Early Childhood Education class where we run a preschool. We come up a lesson plan with a partner ant do an activity with the 4 year olds.
The lesson theme me and my partner got this time is hygene. For this, I thought of a hygene themed magic show. This would be a great way to have the children involved and pay attention. The props I would use for this would be a square circle or production box, a change bag and a little bit of sleight of hand, possible a few other effects thrown in. I am not allowed to do the whole activity by myself and therefore I will be have a one time assistant that is required to be part of the act. Would it be wrong to teach my partner some of the effects so that she is part of the show? I don't think she is going to go around telling everyone the secrets.

Nope...go right ahead. To me, your reason is totally legit. You're not out there exposing just to expose.
You don't think all those "showgirls" the big names use in their acts are actually magicians do you? They're there for a reason. To distract you with their looks while the "magic" takes place. Good luck in school with your project and have fun with it. Hope you get an "A." Mark. |

I agree with Mark completely. Magic is a powerful educational tool. Sharing it towards such a useful goal is not exposure; it's enhancement. Of course, you'll have to advise your new partner that if he (she) ever divulges the secrets that you impart you will curse him so that 3-year-olds always seek him out when they discover new questions that demand answers.
How you leave others feeling after an Experience with you becomes your Trademark.
