Hello,I would like to know our favorite memory of a spectator, their reaction or responce to a trick or a performance.
I feel as an amature the hardest thing to come by is not a trick, but an audience. |

That's the toughest thing, although with the street magic fad going, I suppose it's not that bad. Just dress down, don't say much, and be sure to have a guy with a video camera with you when you walk up to strangers.
I didn't get to tell one of my favorite stories, so I'm glad you asked. I walked into a bar in New Haven where my friend Paul Taylor was working. He doing "Cigarettte thru quarter" for a girl at the bar. I palmed my gaff, and took the seat one away from her, pretty much unnoticed. Paul's presentation was something like "here's a fun thing you can do with a cigarette..." and at the end, he handed her the cig and the coin. She had pought the illusion completely, and was trying to get the cigarette to go through. After a while, she turns to me and says, "I can't get this to work!" Needless to say, I played dum and followed her directions, and at the right moment, pushed the cigarette thru the coin! She shouted, "Damn, I'm the only one here who can't do this!" These moments make you smile on those other nights when you think you 've done a killer show, only to realize that your fly was unzipped the whole time.
