Al's Magic Shop on Pennsylvania Ave. in D.C. I was around 7 years old.
Many pleasant memories there. It was a sad day when he sold it.
I am getting so tired of slitting the throats of people who say that I am a violent psychopath.

Devoe Magic Den, St. Louis, MO...
I started going there when I was about 9 or 10...it was a small, dusty place downtown, on Chestnut Street, but CRAMMED full of stuff. I have fond memories of that place; that store seemed very magical to me (no pun intended)...they later moved to Maplewood, and then Gene passed away, and I think they then closed. I got my first tricks there, an Adams 101 tricks Magic set |

Treasure Chest in Chicago. I recently found out there was an awesome magic shop upstairs from Treasure Chest that I never knew about. The people at TC never mentioned it.
Before TC was an Adams magic rack at a toy store in Chicago. After Treasure Chest was Magic Inc.

In the 1950s I grew up in Flint, Michigan. There were no Magic Shops that I knew of. I checked books out of the public library. Then I sent away for Abbotts catalog. It was so thick, full of tricks and illusions, all illustrated with drawings. Hours were filled pouring through the catalog. I spent lots of my paper route money. I believe I was sending cash through the mail.

Bill's Magic Corner in Cincinnati, Ohio. The shop was owned by Bill Pryor who is now at Haines House of Cards. As a Kid and later teenager in the 1970's I would visit his shop as often as I could while spending my summer and Christmas vacations in Cincinnati visiting my dad, grandparents and other family.
Bill was great to a young kid trying to learn magic....I'll never forget him.
