Hello, I am getting more and more interested in dice. As I know nothing about this more or less. Well I have seen Mr Forte's tape but still, was wondering if someone could link me a site which sells standard casino dice and perhaps gaffed one as well? If there is such a site? The only pair of dice I own is the ones I got with my poker chips, I doubt these are the correct size, shape etc.
Would appreciate the help. Kim |

...for regular dice. http://www.gamblingcollectibles.com/equipment.html ...for some gaffed dice. Dice switches/controls were quite hard for me, but I still practice and have gotten a little better. Doc once had a great video with some incredible controlled shots. That was cool. |

If I don't recall incorrectly, I have seen a video with docs dice teachers, but I am not sure it was his teachers. Anyway, thanks a lot clock =). Will post a center deal video pretty soon if you are interested btw.

Thanks to both of you. Is there a difference between the used and new dice? In quality I mean?
Searched ebay but too many weird hits so I think I will go with that site anyway. Thanks though vandy =) Kim |

It all depends on what you want them for. Yes, there is a difference in quality. New dice are, well... new. Used dice can be chipped up or scratched. They can also be in very good shape. If you are working on switches and stuff it dosen't really matter. If you refine you search and look for dice + casino etc you can narrow them down. I'm mentioning E-bay because some places really rip you off for dice. I've seen places asking 7,8,9 bucks apiece for 3/4" perfects. You can get cancelled casino dice on Ebay for much cheaper.

Yeah I will be working on switches as well as controlled dice shots. 12,50 for 5 regular new dice, is that a fair price? I searched for casino dice on ebay and got A LOT of hits

Seems allright. Yes you will get a lot of hits, but if you look through them you will find some nice deals as well.

Here is the link: http://casinosupply.com/Merchant2/mercha......_Code=DC
But read that I have to order for at least 100 dollars for them to ship anything internationally. Don't want to spend that amount on dice now so I will keep looking on ebay instead. Thanks for your help! Kim |

Unless you are holding out of the cup, stay away from the sewn lips. They act the same way as trips in a textured cup.

The difference being to move with those you need a cream or cop formula, vs razors which are easily held in the skin folds during some of the weirder palms. Depends on if you are switching dice too. A drugstore shooter will consistently do better when exposed to ball corners and other non standards. On the other hand Razor shooters that can bounce the diamonds with the high in the air shots do well at the tables. On the other hand very few of these folks do well away from a standard table or with smaller or rounder dice. All that being said you are better off learning setups and control shots away from the table.

If you are looking to control dice out of the cup you want it to be as smooth inside as possible. SOme sewn lips are OK sometimes the seam is too high and will turn the dice. That's why those cheap plastic cups are so easy to slide dice out of. If you are keeping them out of the cup it dosen't matter. A cup is not that big of deal, there are a million types of dice cups. Basically you just want something that you like that either has a trip lip or not. Depending on what you want to do, and ideally something that fits your hand well while holding out, if you want to play around with holding out dice.

I can't really do any other palms with them very well though. It's just the size of my hand I guess. But it's easy enough to hold either 3/4" or 5/8" in my fingers, pick up a pair of the same size dice, put them right into thumbpalm and toss the others out, without having them talk, and keeping a secure hold on the ones coming out of play.

That's exactly correct. Hand size is as critical to dice as cards and will regulate which moves you can smoothly pull off and which ones have clunky tells. If your hands and fingers are the wrong size for the dice being used, consider picking up cop so your demos are clean. It lasts a long long time and the right stuff doesn't gum up the equipment. Never had a problem with razors.
I have a lot of 5/8 casino razors, old time ones, around the 40s I thought about letting go of, but they are very spendy for custom work, and very difficult to color match. Its better to learn all about dice before watching vids. That should be last once the types of dice are mastered. Then the work on moves is productive.

Steve forte tape nr 4 At least I learnt a lot from that video, eventhough I can't do it yet of course. Ordered dice on ebay yesterday so waiting for some better dice. I heard the book, scarne on dice is invaluable as well.
