I like books like that also and the best I've found is The Collected Almanac.

Definatly the Tarbell series.you could live your life a proffessional magician using just the material in these books(ok,a bit of an overstatement but they are brilliant).

Here's some more to add to your list. Some of these have already been mentioned above: The Secret Ways of Al Baker, The Art of Astonishment, The Magic Menu, Magic and Methods of Ross Bertram, L.I.N.T. by John Luka, Forty Years at the Forks, Impossibilia, Drawing Room Deceptions and Roy Benson by Starlight. There are a few others that are great books that have a wide variety but I can't remember them right now.
