Apparently, Alain Nu has "just released" a book on his ACAAN. I have searched everywhere for any news on it at all but I have found none. Is it because this book was actually released a long time ago or just 0 hype? I'll be so embarrassed if there are threads on this already.
Thanks. http://www.magicalthinking.net/nu.html |

It looks like it's brand new. The last item he released was Astrologic, which is just below it on the page.
Alain did his ACAAN for us when he lectured in Portland. I took good notes, but I look forward to reading this more complete treatment. Curt |

His ACAAAN effect totally kills and his new book has 6 variants. See him do it at

I just wished I had knowledge of ACAANs. I don't so I have no clue how it compares to the rest... Any thoughts, adolphus?

One thing I love about Alain's releases is that he goes into tremendous detail on every aspect of his effects. This booklet runs 54 pages (8.5" x 11", or about A4 size) and covers six different methods. That's a lot of material. Based on his previous products, I expect all of the methods will be practical and explained thoroughly. I will review Alain's booklet after I've had a chance to study it. Curt |

What a great video to share; thank you! And Paul Vigil too, a real bonus.
I've seen Alain perform this effect several times in the same evening on more than one occasion and it always hits very hard. And not just to magicians! A couple of waitresses just about flipped one evening. Alain knows what he is doing, he is a very thorough writer and displays an incredible passion for his work. I really look forward to this one. |

I've seen him do it at least a dozen times, and it always blew everyone away (including me for at least the first half-dozen times!).
It's is a little demanding compared to others, but the book is supposed to give some other, simplier variants as well. He'd sometimes follow that up with using the spec's hands to do a Haunted Deck on the floor or a table. You could just see the shock-wave ripple from the center outwards as the other spec's went from leaning in to falling back!

At least the version from the video is from one old Alain book. Its rather good version but it still has pretty much same streghts and weaknesses that every other version has. Alain also performed it many times on his own tv serie. I think it was on 4th episode and it was nice to see how he is handling it live, when he doesn't get too "lucky". If you know much about ACAAN then there wont be much new information for you in this version. It certainly isn't the holy grail that you can do without any memory work or such and I can state with 100% certainly that there will never be one. That in mind Alains version is very very good and it works in real world if your willing to put the work it requires.

I just got this in the mail today and am looking forward to some very good reading. But, here's some info on Alain Nu's new book "Any Card..."
Just Released: Any Card… by Alain Nu One of Alain’s most prized reputation-makers, this is the effect that helped to tip the scale to Alain’s favor before he was signed for FOUR hours of TV specials with the TLC network! Learn all about Alain’s experience with his most diabolical methods to the classic Any Card at Any Number (ACAAN). Any Card…, uncovers 12 full years of developing and performing Alain’s own personal touches on this most incredible premise. Here’s what it contains: (1) Alain’s detailed handling of his solution to the classic Berglas Effect, which he simply calls, “Any Card…” A randomly thought-of card is found at a random number from the top, or face, of an examinable deck, under the watchful eye of a very skeptical audience! (2) Seven essays, integral to Alain’s philosophy of ACAAN. These cover important presentational considerations, creative concepts, subtleties, anecdotes, opinions, and objectives of the ACAAN effect that are often never addressed. (3) One entire chapter which details three original displacement techniques as well as three original casual false mixes (w/photos and illustrations). (4) An entire chapter dedicated to 6 different variations and related effects, three of which are easy to do and can be learned in under 30 minutes! (5) 52 full pages, on 8.5” X 11”, very clearly written. Plus a BONUS EFFECT: Any Card Thru Table (and into the awaiting hand of a stunned spectator!) Any Card… 81/2 X 11 52 Pages Regular Price: US $35 (plus shipping) Introductory Price: US $30 (plus shipping) http://www.magicalthinking.net/nu.html |

I got mine last week. It's exactly what I expected: a comprehensive treatment of Alain's ACAAN routine. The product description Rudy posted earlier in this thread covers it all.
To answer qkeli's question, Any Card... is the same type of effect as his earlier Romeo and Juliet routine in Mind Over Matter, but he goes into a lot more detail and offers bonus effects and card handling tips that will almost certainly make it worth your while. Curt |
