I'm considering investing in the Sleight of Hand Secrets with Cards and Coins, from Jay Sankey at I'm wondering if these DVDs are of good quality and will get me off my feet with coins and cards after my so-called "magical sabbatical" of about a month.

To be specific: Are the tricks and moves versatile and applicable in real-world situations? And will I be referring back to these moves that I learn for the coming years? Or will this turn out to be a dust-gatherer like Ellusionist's Ninja 2? (Blech...)

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to write out a response.

Hi Nathen

I have these DVD's and in my opinion the card DVD is miles better then the coin one. Also he only talks in the card DVD not the coin one. (The coin one is taught to music) There are some nice effects in the card one but I would highly recommend that you either get another DVD teaching basic card work or a good book such as Royal Road to Card Magic or Card College Vol 1 and 2 to acompany the Sankey DVD.

If you are after a good beginers coin DVD I would recommend Michael Ammars introduction to Coin Magic or David Roths Expert Coin Magic Made Easy Volume 1.

Hope this helps.
