I should maybe mention. I grew up listening the Chipmunk Christmas Song as a kid. I'm hoping they do that in the movie.
I like to see one movie every Christmas where you don't have to think and just enjoy it. A few years ago it was Jingle all the Way.. this year it might be Alvin. Eddie.. if you're reading this.... Enchanted comes first..OK? Best, Tim |

I'm going to see it on DVD...only thing is by my rather experienced ear they got the voices wrong...a bit light and not pitched incorrectly.

Aww WOW!!!! I grew up watching Chipmunks! Alvin, Simon, Theodore... do do... do do do do...
Remember the episode with Michael Jackson? Ah... memories! Can't wait to see this. Doug you're right, the voices aren't quite the same, could have done with a little extra work in that department, but the animations look pretty good. Mark

I want to like this, but the little bits I've seen seem flat somehow.
I remember the awful 60s show and the rather decent 80s show. I remember when they explained where the Chipmunks had been for twenty years; (Alvin got them in trouble by saying they were bigger than Mickey Mouse!)

Anyone remember the jumbo card trick by Ken Allen (I think) involving the 3 Chipmunks and a "playing" card? (One card had a tiny harmonica concealed inside.)

The business world is cluttered with failures resulting from same. When Ross Jr. tried to revive the Chipmunks in the 80s they were so bland and saccarine they were unwatchable. I guess the scat "consumption" joke is an attempt to swing the pendulum the other way. If so I thought it was a rather ham-fisted attempt at bathroom humor. But that is not the primary source of displeasure. Not even a source of displeasure other than having to listen to my wife gripe about its inclusion in the flick. My biggest gripe, however, is that if the trailer is any indication of the quality of the acting by the human actors, it looks like this was a take-the-money-and-run job for the guy playing David. Can we expect any better from the rest of the cast?

My favorite Alvin moment is the show where Bridget (his woman) broke up with him and Alvin started to sing "I've got no strings"

As a follow up to the question of Ross Sr's approval or lack thereof, in an AP interview carried by my local paper. In the interview Ross Jr admitted his vather most likely would not have done the movie. Not a matter of content or anything like that. It's just that one tends to lose control of one's property during the process and Bagdasarian was very protective of the Chipmunks franchise when he was alive.
