Today is December 8th. Usually I would be posting a message reminding everyone that today is the anniversary of the shooting murder of John Lennon. It is that, but I suppose that has to take a back seat now.

At 3:30 this afternoon my mother passed away.

She had been fighting against a very aggressive cancer that started somewhere in her female organs. We are not clear if it was uterine, ovarian or something else closely related. It only took 5 months for her to lose the fight. Those of you who saw me at the escape artists convention will remember me being on the phone a lot. We thought we were going to lose her then, but she rallied; at least that time.

It feels very empty without her, even though we were not close.

All prayers and good wishes are welcome.

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my mother in January 2001, she say down and died without warning so we couldn't say goodbye or anything. I often wondered if it is better that way or to be able to have loved once around you....I don't know, both have good and bad aspects but the end results are just as hard to deal with. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

I am sorry to hear of your loss, Cliff. My thoughts are with you.

My wife's Mother died in May, and in July my Father died. The words then spoken by friends and wishers-well, while heartfelt, were of little soothe or comfort, and would, no doubt, offer less of either, repeated in the online posting of a stranger.

But what good they have to give is written here: Grief cannot honour those we have lost, who themselves would grieve knowing their abscence has brought us pain. Cherish instead their memory by granting the desire of every parent for their child, a life lived full and well.

Or, as my Dad would more succinctly say, "Carry on."

My Mom passed away Dec. 7th, 2007...A day before your mom...

I'm so sorry for your loss and I feel your pain, truly.

My mom had a catastophic stroke to her brain stem...Wiped out her brain completely....

I'm still in the 'confused' stage...You Zombie your way through the funeral rites, or at least I did....Tons of family and friends around...Everyone bringing food and stuff...Talking about this and that...

But no one REALLY talking about their feelings....

Humans are very strange.

And death just sucks....

I know my Mom and yours are in a MUCH better place and no longer know pain or suffering....

I KNOW that...

It's just so hard for those of us left here to find our way in this new, strange reality.

If you wanna chat, PM me, K?

God Bless,

(Prof. Piper)
