Does anybody have some good palindromes? All I can think of is "Madam I'm Adam." Philip

- Was it a rat I saw?
("R" is the pivotal letter which means it can be subsituted with another. You can see bats, cats, or hats, and you're still in palindromic territory).

- Sit on a potato pan, Otis.

- A man, a plan, a canal: panama.

- Cigar? Toss it in a can. It is so tragic.

- Aha!

- aibohphobia: a fear of palindromes. Smile

I love palindromes.
I used to know another about lasagne but I have forgotten it.
Shame.

The response to "Madam, I'm Adam" was another palindrome - "Eve".

Napoleon's palindrome was "Able was I ere I saw Elba".

The follow up to that is:

"Was it a car or a cat I saw ?" Smile

Actually, the full text of the "Adam" one is:

"Madam, in Eden, I'm Adam."
"Eve."
Eve ***ed Eden, mad Eve.

How about:

And DNA and DNA and DNA ...
Dammit, I'm mad!
Dee saw a seed.
Di, did I as I said I did?
"Do nine men interpret?" "Nine men," I nod.
Don't nod.
Drat Saddam, a mad dastard!
Go hang a salami, I'm a lasagna hog.
Haiti--ah!
"I Love Me, Vol. I."
I prefer pi.
Is Don Adams mad? (A nod.) Si!
Laminated E.T. animal.
"Naomi, sex at noon taxes!" I moan.
Never odd or even.
Senile felines.
So, camera solos are Mac OS?
Solo gigolos.
Sycamore has a hero: Macy's.
Yawn--Madonna fan? No *** way!

BTW, for those who like palindromes AND magic, you'll find pure heaven in the new book, Redivider, by Phil Goldstein. All the tricks are based on the palindromic principle, and they all have relevant palindromic names!

That's like saying abbreviated should be a shorter word!

Speaking of Redivider, here are some palindromes from the book:

Revolt, lover
Mull I, will I win? I will, I will, um...
Engage Le Jeu Que Je Le Gagne
Drawer's reward
No casino con is a con.
Of nil info

The book was finished in 2002 (a palindromic year). It was released on (using European date format) 30/1/03.

Oh, and let's not forget the title....

Or, check out the world's longest palindrome! It's the famous "Panama" palindrome taken to it's extreme!

My favorite palindromic book title was always:
"I love me, Vol. I"

Back when Jay Leno took over the Tonight show, I created this palindromic "memo" from Johnny Carson to his former bosses:

Re: I, Carson (elegy)

G.E.:
Leno's racier!

(For those wondering, General Electric-G.E.- is NBC's parent company. Trivia: Those 3 notes you hear on NBC promos are G, E and C - they stand for "General Electric Corporation".)

That world’s longest palindrome is just ridiculous. It's just random words with no order or meaning. I am much more impressed with

Cigar? Toss it in a can. It is so tragic.

I like it because it contains actual words and short sentences.

Here are a couple good ones;
-Oh, who was it I saw? Oh, who?
-Tell Abe to vote 'ballet
-Did Joe kill like O.J. did
-Radar
-Dr. Awkward
-"Do nine men interpret nine men?" I nod.

Or the world's most historic palindrome, given when Napoleon was heading into exile:

"Able was I ere I saw Elba."
Cheers,
Steve
