Thank you so much!
Oh, I have already borrowed the books in the library. Maybe I could ask them if they could order in some for me. |

Again, I have to agree with the above, Mark Wilson's Course in Magic! It covers everything from coins and cards to illusions! Videos are also good, but don't just rely on them all the time. I once saw a new magician do a Cup and Balls routine and told him it was very good! He told me Michael Ammar invented the Cups and Balls! See where this is going? Tarbell's Course is also very good, as it gives you basics to learn and also history.

Yep, I want both Tarbell and the Mark Wilson book.
But I just became a member of something called EGELOS Magic School. It's a school where I receive packages in the mail. EGELO is a great magician here in Norway. |

I agree with The Royal Road To Card Magic (with DVD). PM me if you have questions and I'll tell you more about what I've found helpful.

Somewhere on this thread, someone stated "Learning from a book is always better than learning from a DVD."
Just for the record, that is not true. Many people learn better from watching a routine than reading about it, educators have known this for years. Bob |

Magiciko, since you specifically expressed an interest in manipulation. I suggest "Jeff McBride's Manipulation Without Tears." DVD. Jeff McBride is one of the finest teachers on manipulation magic and this is his beginner level video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3Zl5hPFBVU
Also, there is a book by Fantasio called "My Canes and Candles" that sounds like it covers EXACTLY what you're interested in. Learn it straight from the master himself. |

If I were you I would recomend getting Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic and then practice a lot of the material that is in there before moving on.

I suggest you buy it, it's five dollars as an ebook off Lybrary.com: http://www.lybrary.com/royal-road-card-m......0bcee8cc |

Just an update. I'd like to thank everyone who have been so helpful so far. I've now joined a magic society that has meetings once a month and for every person I meet, and every trick I learn, I just love magic even more.
Out of material from tarbell, romaine, and my own ideas Im creating my very own magic stage/manipulation act. Thank you very much for beeing so nice and helpful. It certainly got me going. Friendly Regards: Sindre Rian |

I find it strange that Jeff McBride was only mentioned on the second page of this thread. If you want to learn how to put together a stage act that includes a large portion of visible and effective manipulation then McBride is one of the best.
