I think this saying applys to magic.
Especially when you are doing the roulette tricks. I had a show tonight and I just joined the club of hurt hands. Tonight I slammed my hand down onto a spike. Nothing is 100% safe. So if you do this trick. Check more than once. Check twice, and keep checking over and over. It hurts. Randi |

Ouch!!!! How hurt are you, and do you know how it happened? I do not use this effect, but have considered it since watching Phenomenon. There has to be some way of making it impossible to err - but what is it? Do you think you will do this effect again? Good luck on mending! Jim

I'm not hurt too bad.
It hurts more from the impact than any skin punture. I'll be all right. I do know what happened and I could have prevented it, but I figured I would have been OK. I should have double checked. This trick is being removed from my show. I invented a comedy, and perfectly safe, version of this trick awhile back which is time to work into the show. Randi |

I always liked the idea of these tricks, but I know myself to well to think I won't screw it up at some point, there is a version called shattered that is safe id like to try one of these days

I think if I ever try this sort of effect, I will also go for the comedy approach. After all, it doesn't have to be a spike or anything dangerous. Maybe just a bowl of chicken noodle soup or a trip line that dumps a pail of water on your head, etc. Then, when I have done that 200 times without mishap, on to the scary stuff...

Shattered is the way to go... I guess.
I just hate that you have to break a bottle on stage. Randi |

Get well quickly Randi. It's all about the concept of mistake proofing (ex. http://csob.berry.edu/faculty/jgrout/everyday.html ). You should always work to add mistake proof devices to your routines. I wouldn't remove the routine from my show if I were you. Get back on the horse.
