Thanks for the link.
I always wanted to see blockbuster in action. If you do a search, they sell for $30 or so. and if you're a DIY type of magician, buy Top Secrets by Terri Rogers. I would go for the later becouse there are plenty of other goodies in it. |

This looks impossible. BTW, Martin sent an e-mail out warning that there are some early versions still sold at magic stores for around $30. that are inferior to the one he is selling now.

The "inferior" $30 models are just his from several years ago. These work MOST of the time.
The current apparatus is improved and is said to work ALL of time. It really is amazing! Julie |

If you can examine the ring, then this illusion is impossible?! Amazing.

I think holding the (linked) ring and letting the block 'swing' in mid-air is potentially a bad move; logically, at this point, the block would free-fall from the length of ribbon...

Blockbuster looks like the Enchanted Ring I bought about 7 years ago made by Anverdi from Europe. Instead of a ribbon though, a long piece of wire or a needle was used. Now they have an updated Excaliber Block & Sword version.

I agree with Kjellstrom, if the ring can be examined then this does seem amazing....can the ring be examined??

Yes, the ring can be exmined.
I don't think this works like "Enchanted Ring" as mentioned above. Martin is a very good man to deal with. |

It would be that the block can't be examined would be my guess.

Thehawk,
that was what I was wondering. If the ring can be examined, what about the ribbon and block while in the linked condition?

Can the effect also be done with the ring coming off the rope after the penetration?

The block can be examined, the ring can be examined. The string cannot be examined. It is a very old trick and there was a previous version. If you think along the lines of the linking ropes that use no gimmicks or the trick where you pass a borrowed finger ring onto a tied loop of rope, that will give you an idea of the method. I have had this and liked the illusion very much but would never really perform it for people. For magicians, yes. For people, no.

Ustaad,
It could mean that Blockbuster might not impress lay people as it would to magicians. which I agree with him. Im my opinion lay people like to see things vanished, changed or appear from thin air instead of solid through solid (penetration) effect. there are some exceptions, yes. Layperson would see this as puzzle instead of magic. |

It looks like a puzzle. I meant can the block be examined with the string still in it.

I have both of these effects and I use the anverdi quite a bit. It can be handed out at the beginning, but not at the end. I need to check the new version to see if this is different in that respect.
I like blockbuster and it has always worked, just the set up is a bit and it is larger than the anverdi block. |
