Hi, I`ve had the fantasio vanishing candle for a little more than a week now.
Before it vas easy to extend it but now, when I try, it just opens up and it doesn't go so smootly. I hope you undrestand because it`s difficoult to explain it. When I extend it, the coil is opening up. |

Don't extend it so far or do it little by little.
Try that. -Brandon

With the candle closed, twist the coils to tighten them down. Now snap a small rubberband around it to hold the coils tightly closed. Let it sit for a day or two. This will often help the problem. Naturally, let the coils unwind themselves before trying to extend it. Store the candle like that when not in use, and it should continue to work nicely for you.
Also, when you extend the candle, try to position your fingers around it like a lathe or drill chuck. This will help you "guide" the coils as they extend. If need be, extend about 2-3 inches and then give the extended portion a little twist to tighten it (not too much), reapeat until fully extended. Mostly, this is a matter of finesse. You will eventually understand a certain "feel" that you must acquire. You will learn what is too short or too long, and what is too loose or too tight. Something else, if you really want to get to the fine points... most candles are just a bit different from each other, and require a different touch with each. You'll get to learn that with practice and patience. ~michael

Michael gives some great information here. Thank you for hat. One thing you may also be intersted in getting is the Fantastio book or DVD sets where he did a lecture at the Magic Castle. They are a wealth of great information in them and he covers off on a lot of this as well as proper handling and conditioning of his candles and canes. It may be of help to you.

That's also a good idea to do with a Fantasio appearing cane
