Just currious, mind wandering, too much Christmas cheer perhaps, but has anyone ever made/used a copper/silver flipper?

Yes, I had one made back in 2002/2003 before I went to COINvention. sorry to be straight to the point, but, kind of in a rush. PM me if you'd like to know more.

Best,
Joe

I had one in my list of odd gaffs to get made. And had some thoughts on it. But never had one made! Smile!

May as well make it magnetic and get an expanded Dusheck shell to cover - so can be used as sun/moon or c/s or for flipper tricks depending.

Jonathan magnetic or shimmed? Is there an advantage to one over the other?

Myself, I would use a Shimmed one... that way I could use it on a Magnetic hold-out
and I don't have to think about what way to turn it! But you have ask what you are going to use it for. Then you you know the one to use!

Much easier to shim the shell and let the coin contain the magnet - just want the Dusheck shell to stay on. - but remember what Bob Swadling did with that second coin...Smile

Does anyone know if Jamie Schoolcraft or any of the other greats will make this gaff if asked to? I know I could ask THEM but since it's Christmas and all I thought I'd probably get a faster response here. Anyone know?

Thanks,

Art

I have not been around coins long enough to know what Bob did with the second coin....perhaps a hint or a reference? Thanks

Have a look at what makes his double deception so easy to handle.

I had mine made to do an international VCA with a shell. The flipper part of mine was a Chinese coin, I also placed a piece of Band-Aid inside the shell part to use as a Chinatown half.

Art, I believe Schoolcraft or any of the other coin makers will pretty much make whatever you want to order. That's really the nature of their business, Custom-made coin gaffs. So yeah, I feel comfortable in telling you that they'd make it for you. Give them a call or shoot them an email. I'm sure they'll take care of you. Smile

There is a place in England that keeps them in stock. This, actually, was in my stocking last Christmas. An interesting item, but still not exactly sure what to do with it.

If you go with the one above, be sure it opens via gravity. It makes it far more natural to handle.
