ok, we all know what tricks NOT to buy, how about what TO buy, which tricks do you perform the most, what gimmicks get the best reactions.etc My favorite gimmick has to be the Raven.

I dispise the Raven, but the best thing I have ever purchased has probably been books and videos (books I like more). As for single tricks, I would have to say Smile Probably Anniversary Waltz or Deep Astonishment.

I agree that the best thing I ever bought was a book or video (most likely a book, though). However, the best trick I ever bought was B'wave. For it's sheer simplicity, and powerful effect, it just cannot be beaten. Smile

My Scotch & Soda has served me very well for years(although, I currently can't find it.)

My current favorite is The Diceman, I have been getting tons of use out of it.

The two BEST gimmicked items i have purchased have to be "Deep Astonishment" and my just received "Ultimate 3 Fly". Have not performed 3 Fly yet, as i have to work with it, but Deep Astonishment is perfectly named. It ASTONISHES people without a doubt.

A few other of my favorite gimmicked tricks are:

#1 - Kennedy Mystery Box (Going to be upgrading to the Destination Box for table performances)

#2 - Mullica Wallet

#3 - skinners Ultimate 3 Card Monte (Cheap, easy and devastating)

I just got Ringer by Steve Dusheck. Smile

So simple yet so powerful. I've been looking for a really good, workable ring to keycase/keyring and this is it.

I've been enjoying working with the Raven, been scaring the crap out of women with the Web, Aces in Their Faces gets good ractions, as does Club Sandwich, Twisted Sister is great, and how could I forget Deep Astonishment. I also really enjoy Lite Flite. Especially when I borrow a quarter from a spectator after floating the ball. I think they are more amazed at seeing their quarter spinning and floating in mid air.

I couldn't narrow it down to just one, so here's my (current) list:

- Tamariz Rabbit
- Color Monte
- Twisted Sisters
- Double Back
- Henry Evans Monte 2000
- Kolossal Killer
- Out Of This World (and variations)
- Histed Heisted (from Bound To Please)
- J.C. Wagner's Super Closer.

Hello All

Does this count for gimmicked or not?

Gimmicked:

Card to watch.(My version)

Linking Pins

Amazing Poker hand

Color monte

Classic three ball trick

Cups and Balls(MA routine)

Non gimmicked:

Sam the Bellhop

Ambitious card to Pocket

The list can go on forever.

For me the best would be a book or DVD or Video.

Sam The Bellhop is a terrific routine. As for books or videos, I'd recommend David Acer, Greg Wilson, Jay Sankey, and, of course, Paul Harris.

I see that most of you seem to be close up magicians. I'm not but my best purchase would be 3 ropes and a baby by Richard Sanders. I've bought MANY different rope routines over the years and this is the one that I've been doing in every show for over 4 years. Fast paced with tons of magic
