Just saw this, wow! Shows what one can do without any new fangled bits and bobs. |

Erm, it's Neil Foster isn't it? Youtube is great, you read about people for years and never see them until you stumble across something like this on Youtube.

It is indeed Neal Foster. A link for this clip was also recently posted on the Genii Forum. It was terrific to once again see the master at work.

From Don Alan's "Magic Ranch" TV series. And did you notice there was not one flashpot, fog machine or confetti launcher?
Truly a past master of his craft. Cheers!

I am truely amazed at what I saw, a true work of art. We all can learn such great lessons from the masters...

I got to see Neil when he was well past his prime, fighting cancer, and feeling ill (only a few months before he died). He did his Zombie routine and it was flawless! Even sick he was the best I've ever seen performing it (and I've seen Tommy Wonders, Losanders, General Grant's, Lance Burton, and a drove of others!).
I would have loved to have seen the man in his prime!

When I was a young teen in Chicago, not too many years after this was filmed,
I did see him do this routine, and it was just amazing. It is probably the reason I worked on this effect for fifteen years, before adding it to my show. I am glad this tape of Don Alan's Magic Ranch survives, as this is now one of the most abused and misused effects in magic, and this stands as a great example that it can be done well and magically. It is short and sweet with several variations and the ball is alive with personality. Walt |

Regardless of all the moves in the world, Neil Foster was one of the very few who truly understood how to make a ball float. He was quite the inspiration for everyone's floating ball work, including my own.

Neal that's joe carson and tim wright all rolled into one. Jeff McBride has a good piece on zombie ball. I would stay away from losander way unless you want an accident of the ball falling off. Tim wright is good dvd, but heres my personal tip and not many zombie practioners use, it was handed down to me. Now contrary to what I said about Losander, he does modify the gimmick. Try not to use the gimmick as is.
Sorry Neal, wanted to add: Please (in my opinion) in the routine do not change the ball to flowers or alike it takes away from the beautifull mistery of this floating effect |

Bend the gimmick into an arch to fit your forearm its rather hard to explain in wordsthe cork needs to rest into the crotch of the arm the bend is hidden by the forearm it gives it a good balance.
