Well, one gets to their 666 post only once on the Magic Café!

So in honor of the event,
I wanted to share something with my Bizarre Magick buds here.
My humble offering for your consideration and possible use is below:

Magically at 666,
Walt

A TRUE STORY: “Sleep can be a very odd conveyance…”

I was sound asleep at god-knows-what wee hour of the morning, and deeply dreaming that I was in a Victorian parlor, in full mourning wear, and performing for a few gathered magical guests, yeah, I really get dreams like that.

This is the selection I performed, the little tale seamlessly unraveling within my dream, and those assembled politely nodding their approval for the bit of magic offered.

As I hastened to the ancient black-and-chrome Remington “typing-machine” in my study to put the presentation to paper lest my memory fade, it occurred to me that I was both asleep …and owned no such typewriter.

I then sprang out of bed fully-awake, and recorded this on my existent computer, for my own, and possibly your entertainment.

Magically,
Walt Anthony, Conjurer & Teller of Tales

“A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH”

(The magician withdraws a black silk handkerchief from his pocket, regarding it with pensive interest.)

“A black handkerchief of crepe-du-chine.
Actually, noir…a very-very-very dark-grey crepe-du-chine.

The perfect accessory to accompany a proper Victorian Gentleman,
to a funeral of someone of consequence in Local Society.

Perhaps to politely offer a grieving Lady,
so she may dab her tears in delicate mourning.

Laid out in the Parlor, the deceased in question.
Neither relative nor business associate,
but a Deacon from the local Parish.

A Gentleman of little report,
from who’s mustache wafted the faint scent of whisky,
and who’s coat sported the slight rumple of impropriety.

In truth, no one of Note.
A little matter of Death and Life really.
So no reason to dally on this gloomy occasion.

In fact, duty done,
one must be….
Gone!!!”

(The silk pocket square instantly evaporates into the ethers, vanishing forever along with whatever sentiment was conveyed.)

PREFERRED METHOD: The method should be self-evident, if you’d like my take on the best, email or pm me, and I’ll spill the beans that can’t be spilled on the Café.

Happy 666 Walt!!

I actually asked the Café if they would/could freeze my post count there, but alas, they said no. Smile
Just hanging out with the rest of my fellow dregs.

Congrats on the 666 Walt. At this rate, it will take me years to get there.

Your stories are a treat. I liked this, and I am still giving a lot of thought to the Ginger Bread Boy. Keep them coming.

Thank you Walt - I also love the fact you dream this stuff! May I ask, did you have an English Victorian accent?

From a famously embittered American: "HANDKERCHIEF, n. A small square of silk or linen, used ... at funerals to conceal the lack of tears." Ambrose Bierce.

Doc!
What a great quote... I love Ambrose Bierce,
and he usually hit the coffin nail on the head!

Now...why wasn't that part in my dream???
Oh... because I DO dream with an English accent!!!
Thanks,
Walt

I think that's wonderful Walt - clearly that persona is deep within you and can be accessed. I'm afraid I've never had the pleasure of hearing you perform - what accent does Baron Saturn have?
I'm so jealous your subconcious is obviously BRISTLING with these ideas and characters!
Best wishes
Steve

Walt,

Congratulations! I celebrated my 666th post by writing (and giving away) an E-Book. It contains mentalism / seance type effect which, I believe you would enjoy.

PM me if you would like a copy (that goes for any other members.)
Best,
Bri

By the way, it's not the E-Book in the signature.

Hi Steve,

Luckily I have a lot of acting training and was an Equity actor for about twenty-years, so I'm comfortable with accents.

In "my" shows I use what they used to call "mid-Atlantic" English/American.
But for this piece I think of Rex Harrison's cultured English voice in my head.

The “Baron Saturn” character's voice is deeper than mine, softer, and ever so slightly New Orleans in flavor.

I hope to (finally) study Vent work this year, and I've got a wonderfully evil little figure named Vincent, the miracle will be coming up with a voice that fits him as well!

Perhaps we’ll both be at an “ICBM Gathering” or McBride’s “Magic and Meaning” seminar at the same time and can see one another’s work.

Thanks for asking!
Walt
