Hi,
Thanks for the great help with my stage act, it's coming together quite nicely now. I don't mean to push my beginner's luck but if you could help me a little with an effect I'm after for my close up act then I would be incredibly grateful. I understand from searching that there are an awful lot of topics on drawing duplications already but unfortunately, the majority seem to extend to "anyone know where I can find a good drawing duplication ?". Whilst these threads contain many great sources for effects, I don't know if they will be appropriate for what I'm looking for. I have a drawing duplication placed in my stage act, as well as an outlaw panther wallet on the way. However, in addition to this method, I would ideally like one which doesn't need the wallet. Now comes the incredibly picky requirements (sorry, I have a very specific idea of this effect in my head)......... It's essential that the duplication be impromptu, possible on business cards, use no visible props other than the business cards and pens and the spectator to have a free choice of drawing. As a preference I would like for it to be real time but I understand that this last one may have to be sacrificed. If anyone can think of any effects which fit these requirements then many many many many thanks in advance All the best Dave

Dave,
Osterlind Design Duplication System (ODDS). Richard's revolutionary method of doing the design duplication effect. This routine was developed based on actual laboratory techniques for testing ESP and is the closest thing to real ESP! This fits all the criteria, including real time. When I got mine it was available as a seperate item with instruction booklet and specially printed cards, which I replaced with my business cards. I don't know if it is still available in that form but it is featured in Richard Osterlind's 'Mind Mysteries Too #7' DVD. This is very very strong indeed. http://osterlindstore.com/ Paul Mc.

There is one that uses post it notes, I had a friend of mine do this and it seemed to be very convensing. I am sure if you do a search you can find it. And it fit your requirements. If anyone knows what I am talking about maybe they can give you the name of the effect.
No one said it would be easy, or did they?

Patrick Kuffs Volume 1 DVD. Again it ticks all the boxes. Business cards. Nothing but cards and pens. Any drawing.

Kuffs routine would be perfect for what you specify. Though I can't help mention ODDS, as I think it is very very good indeed.

Hi Dave,
I think you lack of knowledge. You should read and watch some mentalism material. Drawing business duplication is easy to find in almost any book or dvd( banachek,Kuffs,Looch,Osterlind,Nardi,Spelmann,Riggs,etc.... No offense... Best Chris

For stage I would use the James Biss Impressionable minds board, or my current favourite, Jimmy Fingers 'Peekfolio'.
For close up I really don't think you can do better than a particularly good impression pad (one where they draw anything, they keep the paper, and you don't re-open the pad - but there is only one like that...). Kennedy has a good method involving business cards, it's in 'Kennedy's Killers' from Alakazam. |

There's a close-up duplication in Stunner Plus by Larry Becker. It's simple and can be used for a range of effect.

On Osterlinds "No Camera Tricks" bonus DVD he has an effect called Incredible Mind Reading(or something like that). While it requires you to carry a little something that is never seen by the audience, it is a phenomenal way to do a drawing duplication. I've done it close up and parlor and it never fails to evoke a tremendous response. The audience will swear there is no way you could have seen the drawing. All that is required is a borrowed business card or piece of paper and a pencil plus that something extra that noone else is aware of. I always carry that something extra when I think I will be performing that day.

Once again, I'm overwhelmed with really good responses. I must say that these forums are an incredible source of information and great advice. I will look into the many great suggestions you guys have given me.
Thank you for helping me out on a subject you have no doubt discussed many times before. As I mentioned in my first post, I had a very specific idea of this effect and have wasted money on things in the past which haven't been quite right so thank you for helping me make a better informed decision Parmenion : No offence taken, I know that I am not as familiar with the works of mentalism as many of you here at the café All the best Dave

Mark Spelmann & Peter Nardi's Unexpected DVD is worth checking out. I do agree with Bill that Outlaw's SOM pads are excellent.
