What are they generally here in the States?
What success has any one had here, and what words? How much per click? |

I purchased Matthew James' Adword course in December. I had doubts about it so I went conservative. I put my rate at $3.00 a day and .50 per click maximum. I followed the set up he has outlined, added a few other keywords and let it do it's thing. Well, January has been the busiest January I've had in 5 years. I attribute 10 paid gigs to the adwords campaign that I ran. I ask everyone that books me how they got my name so I am able to track this. 5 didn't book because I wasn't available. So I would say Matthew knows what he's talking about. His course made way more money in the first month than what I paid for it.

"I was spending about $500 a month, but basic keywords like MAGIC and MAGICIAN were up to $7 a click."
Well, when keywords are becoming in the $2+ range or so, it becomes vitally important that you find OTHER keywords that Magicians are not using. Most magicians who run Adwords just run under Magician, Magic, magic show, etc. What they don't realize is that there are TONS of keywords; hundreds and thousands of additional keywords! Also, Google gives you HUGE bonus points for matching your ads to your keywords. Your competitors may have been paying $7 a click because they had a terrible Quality Score (advanced Google term), so their minimum bids are much higher. However, if you do the things I tell you to, you have a WAY better Quality Score and thus a lower minimum bid. Even though the bids MAY have been $7 for some people, I'm sure you could have got them for much less. Mike, the bids vary widely in the States. For some serious corporate keywords, it could be a couple bucks a click. But for most keywords, you can easily bid 50 cents or so and do very well. Think about it this way; what would you have to spend to send a direct mail piece to a COLD list? 50 cents a piece minimum! BUT, you can have people already looking for what you've got, and pay that same amount or less! And they are qualified! You can see why I feel this is the best investment for Magicians. Thanks! Matthew Posted: Jan 27, 2008 11:26am Hey Mike, I realized I didn't answer all of your question, my apologies. You had asked, "what words?" Well, these are keywords and there are tons. AND, they are not just the words, Magic, Magician, magic show, etc. I have paid hundreds/thousands of dollars for keyword research tools to find ALL the keywords out there. Those on here who already have my system will be receiving ongoing updates with TONS more keywords than the initial course! So, I can't reveal all the keywords here, but a good start is Google's Keyword Research Tool that you can use. Ed, I appreciate your wonderful comments about my course. I'm glad you've done so well with it, as have many others. BUT, the real hat goes off to you, for USING it! My stuff works, if you WORK it! You gotta enter a few keywords, copy my ads, etc, and spend a couple bucks per day (only $3 for you!) and then get results. Can't wait to work with you more on our free Q&A call coming up soon. I've got some great new strategies for how we can use more tracking AND the content network profitably. Best of success, Matthew James (watch my upcoming posts for a BIG free gift for all curious about this Adwords thing) |

Matthew is definitely on track with Adwords.
Here's the real truth about working with Adwords, or MSN Adcenter, or any other marketing vehicle... -- Try something, evaluate results, try again With Adwords, you really need to log in regularly and see how your different ads and keywords are working. You also need to track how well the website to which you send them is converting. If all you do is set up everything once and then sit back and wait for the money to roll in...well, that may work for a while. But to keep getting good results, and to progressively get better results, you will need to do some work -- which will require ongoing attention and (as Matthew referred to in coming up with new keywords) creativity. --Jack

Thanks so much for the AWESOME results updates! Man, it is so rewarding to hear that you guys are all kicking butt and booking LOTS of shows! You've made back your investment in just a single show! Can't wait to give you the ADVANCED stuff now that you're doing so well! I quietly made this offer to a few guys on here, and many have taken me up on it, but I'll publicly announce it. Anyone who orders from me via the Café will get UNLIMITED access to me via email to answer any questions when setting up Adwords, testing/tracking, entering new markets, etc. My way of giving back to you guys. Thanks again, Matthew James Posted: Jan 28, 2008 10:32pm Hey Mike, No plunge taken! You've invested in something solid that has worked and will continue to work for the Magicians I coach. Can't wait to see your success too. -Matthew James |

That is how he talked me into it!
Something about the extras always seems to help. Now what you have to do is give us a discount on the book who bought Adwords. |

Hey Mike,
Are you referring to the Instant Celebrity Author Kit? I don't think that will ever be discounted. I may add bonuses from time to time, but likely not a discount. I spent $5,000 + in hard costs, plus 6 months of my time authoring that baby, so it is already a steal for the price. Thanks again, Matthew James |

I don't ever use Google AdWords, and probably should.

I just received an email telling me that there is a new offer from Yahoo called AdSense which rents you words to increase your hits at the Yahoo search engine, for a small fee per hit that is. Remember, Google is only 60% of the search engine market and Yahoo is being bought out by Microsoft. So dig a little deeper, boys.

Al, you are showing your lack of knowledge in this area.
AdSense is a service offered by Google that allows website owners to earn money by displaying assorted relevant adverts. Posted: Feb 2, 2008 8:33pm You of course meant to write AdCenter, which is the Yahoo/MSN version of AdWords. Nothing new here (except the Microsoft buy out) and most people who use AdWords to drive qualified leads to their site also use Yahoo search marketing. In fact, as already been mentioned by several people in this thread, Yahoo is a MUCH better choice for advertising for parties, events, etc., despite what people touting overpriced training packages would have you believe. |

You are right. It appears that I did a quick read on some junk email.

Now that Matthew's Instant Author book has been exposed as... How shall we put it nicely? ...a tribute sampling of Mark Wilson's Complete Course...
I'm just starting to wonder... How much of his magician's guide to Google AdWords been lifted straight out of Perry Marshall's guide to Google AdWords? |

Mike, we told you about Perry earlier in the thread. Perry is regarded as the guru of AdWords. He has various training courses and books out on using it effectively.
I think, from memory, the course is about $50 (and well worth it). But you can get a free 5-day introduction email course, which is also very good and a great price. Perry Marshall Timothy P.S. I hope that thought posted above by BB2004 isn't correct. Wow, Perry is a "major player" and not one to mess about with. |
