Career Builder, a job search site, is conducting a contest for Disneyland in search of a CMO, Chief Magic Officer. They are looking for a ten minute video and the winner will be hired and must work from May through a year. There is a description on the site. Disney is vague when they say perform magic because while I think it means magic they may think it means being nice or something. Either way this may be a good gig for a performer who has a professional look. I get a sense it is almost like being a cruise director, you'll be a judge at contest and work special events etc..
This is a real job with Disney. They are not looking for 14 year olds or freaks so if you are a kid or nut job don't waste your time or theirs. The person selected is going to work there so if you live in Cleveland and have no desire to move to where Disneyland is don't bother. If you are a drag queen who has an idea that your performing character should be kind of like the evil step mother in Snow White then stay at home, they have a specific 'costume (suite)' they want you to wear. I'm not going to bother because I'm fat and ugly. Again this is through career builders so you can go and sign up and the job is CMO at Disney. Good luck sports fans! |

I'm confused...do they want you to be a character or to run things?

I got it I think, they want you to help make children's wishes come true.
Why not just have a sale at mickeys sweet shop? |

You will be "Chief of Magic Operations". I think the idea, and this is only my thoughts, that they want someone to wear a suit and represent like a corporate figure who does magic. I'm not real certain but it should be an interesting gig. It seems like the person will perform a number of times a day and also represent 'Disney' at certain functions in the park. If they have a contest you'll be one of the judges, stuff like that. I think everyone who works at Disney plays a role but this is a specific one.
Here is a link to the rules: http://www.dreamcmo.com/contest-rules.ph......bemail19 the job description and how to apply at: http://www.dreamcmo.com/job-description-......bemail19 It really looks interesting. I bet a guy with an English/Irish/Scot/Welsh/Australian type accent may be appreciated by them. I just know a pack of ten year olds will see this and apply. The deadline is Jan 27th I believe. |

I'm sorry, CMO is Chief Magic Officer, you'll be a character.

Just read the rules, gotta be 21, I wouldn't advise a black beret.

I was about to apply then realized...it wasn't really what I thought it would be. I wanted to run the magic side of disney. Hire and fire magic acts.

I know a guy who's mom is (unless things have changed in the last year) the talent agent for Disney. Her agency hires 'em, you want her job.

I wonder if Disney pays its acts well? I love disneyland. Not as much as universal...but I love them both.

I don't think any of the "entertainment" corporations pays their acts particularly well. Especially when there is so much out there that they feel they can pick and choose.
If you get a following or make a name for youself, then it might be different come contract negotiation time.

Hey, if I was a young man I could think of worse things to do for a year than hanging out and Disneyland/world and sneaking off for weekends with the gal who plays Snow White and her special friend Cinderilla. Lots of guys started at Disney and it gave them legit status.

I noticed that when I did the link. The email that was sent to me said 10 minute, since I have no desire to live in Southern California I wasn't interested in the job. I figured those interested could read and they would note the time if they decided to try out. I do want to thank you, S2000, for continuing to have your greatest contribution to this forum being your correcting people. I'm sure it makes up for other...inadequacies.
PS: to the individual who last time PM'd me to tell me S2000 is special and not attempting to be a pill don't bother PMing me again about it. |
