Sparks, I was listing games from a legit website, all of them are real games in fact Curses was picked as game of the year by Mensa, whatever that is worth. I never said the game wasn't good, I never said a thing about the creators, I never said they were or were not great sellers. Your statement is what I like to call a flat out lie. I never branded him or the game in any manner yet there are some who would consider the way Puerto Rico was settled, the entire region for that matter, by the Spanish was horrific. That is why the subject could be viewed as such, same with Chicks vs Dudes, some think that there is no difference between the sexes and any attempt to make a game out of it is horrible. The drinking games were included because many think drinking is the scourge of the land. The WW2 one because over a million people died in direct conflict and some might not find that to be a subject to base a game on. If someone is disturbed by a game using prison as the backdrop then they must, to maintain an even keel, be disturbed by movies that have prisons as the subject as well as TV shows. Do you understand now? If not I'll be glad to state it again. I avoided listing games that were underground in nature but only legit ones.

You're right about consistency in one's thinking, but my initial post was not about the propriety of the game itself. Rather, my point was the response of the game creator's parents.
That response was, "Our son has created a pass-time based on mindless violence and perversity, and we support his endeavour. We are pleased by John's creative talents and initiative." Whether there is a market for this slop, whether those who regard it as such should also refrain from similar amusements (like "Breaking Bad," for example, or "Prison Break"), are good questions but not relevant to that point. Mom & Dad's priorities are messed up when they give their kid an "atta boy" for this kind of effort. |

I'm sorry, on your first post I must have missed the "Our son has created a pass time based on mindles iolence and perversity, and we support his endeavour...". I only saw the "are very proud of their son John's creativity and talent" part, which reads to me like an answer one gives if the kid designed a board game or a new color of fabric. There is no there there. It is a neutral statement at best that neither praises or condems the kid. It is like a parent saying "we support our son" after an arrest, doesn't mean the parents think he did a wonderful crime or they were behind him chanting 'rob that bank! rob that bank!', it means they love their kid no matter what stupidity is assigned to him. Much ado about nothing my man, I have no idea why you are so upset unless you or someone close to you is in prison and likely trying to avoid dropping the soap.

Darn internet, I did a search and couldn't find the "Our son has created a pass time based on mindles iolence and perversity, and we support his endeavour..." part of the quote, only the generic part.

I believe I straightened you out son, you need another explanation? You seem to think that I should have researched some German who designed a game, I don't care who designed it. From a historical standpoint Puerto Rico's development had a direct effect on the death of entire tribes and the beginning of slavery in this hemispere. Some may take offense to it being made into a game. Some may take making a WW2 battle into a game. I ask again why this prison game is offensive to anyone? The line 'don't drop the soap' is a joke that is stated every day to people going to prison, bootcamp, summer camp, etc.. There is nothing in the description from the article to indicate the parents of this kid did anything but say they support their son, I bet when they were alone they were beating their head against a wall. What did you people want, the parents, regardless of who they are, to say their son is an @$@$%) because he made a game that will sell twenty copies and he'll be on their couch for the rest of their lives? You, sparks, claimed I branded the German designer, who I am guessing you must know to be so defensive of him, as something or another, I did no such thing and thus you lied. Oh, Ross' point was making a game out of prison where convicts go after they are convicted of breaking the law is the on the same level as making the murder of millions of Jews and others into a game. I guess you see them on the same level as well eh there Sparks?
