Hey, how's this for an idea......tape invisible thread to the selected card and lower the audience and stage & performer while the card stays stationary. Wa...la....the card looks like it is rising
Who knows, I'll work on an idea for the Statue of Liberty next

I must say martini makes one of the smoothest and nicest rising card decks I've ever purchased. I own many others they don't even come close to the quality product marty puts out. I'm ordering 4 more just as back ups.

I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion regarding a rising card trick called DEEP Rising Card Unlimited. It sounds too good to be true. You show both sides of the deck and let the spectator shuffle freely. You show the inside of the case. Supposedly, you can control the speed of the rise out of the case, stop it and even make it return to the pack, yadda yadda yadda. It is listed at $75.00 on the Williams Magic site.
If it really is that good it would be worth it.

To be honest, I didn't find Henry Evan's rising card gimmick as great as I thought it would be. Whilst the gimmick itself is very devious and all but invisible to spectators, it isn't strong enough to work with a whole deck of cards. In fact, I can only use it in my hand with half a deck of cards.

If you go to wizard craft.com you can try this one. it takes a little time to make the loops, but you use any deck anywhere anytime and can be left clean. I have been using it for about a year and love it. Craig is great to deal with as well.
Ultimate Card Rise DVD with Elastic Thread $20.00 200 meter Roll of Thread Not invisible unless split, but for effects such Kundalini Card Rise, and the way we lecture on, it is used right off the roll. The lecture notes have tips on using a 2 card gimmick to make the card rise from a spread on the table, in your hand, or from a card box and are included on the DVD as a PDF file. This may be split to make your own invisible loops but must be colored. The best for Angel Card Rise, Kundalini Card Rise now with Craig's DVD "Perfected Card Rise" which include how to tie the Loops and all the Card rise techniques Craig has had in his lecture for the past 10-15 years. The Horizontal Card rise is a killer. This is the best Elastic Thread available. Over 600 feet per roll and the best for Card Rise Loops, repair of many of the JB Magic effects such as Twenty One, Royal Flash, Slither etc. in fact JB Magic uses this thread to make the effects since it is unequaled. Includes signature methods from Craig Dickson’s 1996 lecture for Card Rise, Business Card Rise and Horizontal Card Rise where selection crawls out of the deck. DVD shows how to tie the loops in very easy to understand details. This is a very special version of this elastic carried by no one else and never equaled. Most thread oxidizes and breaks down in less than a year, this does not. Thread is clear, perfect for the card rise and more. This is the best. there is. |

"The Impossible Rising Cards" by Gary Plants is excellent.
It can be done in the box. It uses a completely different method from all that has been previously referenced. Gary has some incredible stuff on his website. http://www.thecardplant.com Gary is a great guy. If you don't know what he does... you should.

Wow, thanks for the all the suggestion here. I always thought Kundalini is the best card rising deck. But now I'm thinking to buy Henry Evan's once I can afford it.

"Michael Vincent is back to bring you the most detailled look at this fabulous utility gimmick to date and after years of using and refining the technique and uses of the Dual Control gimmick, you can be sure that this is the definitive work on DVD."
Video trailer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7NHoBI4n7c Info! http://alakazam.co.uk/alakazam-magic-hot......ent.html MICHAEL VINCENT IS BACK FOR CHRISTMAS 2009 ALAN ALAN'S DUAL CONTROL REVISITED As we head rapidly towards the end of 2009 it is hard to not look back over the last year at Alakazam Magic without a certain gentleman's name springing immediately to mind... Michael Vincent is a name that we are extremely proud to have associated with Alakazam Magic as he represents some of the finest magical abilities not only from the UK, but also in the world. With two of the best-selling DVD collections of 2009 to his name, Michael is back for Christmas with a landmark project that we are extremely excited about. Those of you that have seen the Classic Magic of Michael Vincent series so far will already be aware of the influence that the legendary Alan Alan has had on Michael's career and magical mentoring. Alan Alan is a name synonymous with a utility gimmick that should be in the arsenal of EVERY magician. However references and detailed information has been scarce - until now! With Alan Alan's blessing and in the hands of one of the world's finest magicians, you can now learn, in full detail, the miracle of the Dual Control utility gimmick! Originally credited to G. W. Hunter and referenced in many sources in previous magical literature, the Dual Control will allow you to create absolute miracles! Michael Vincent is a leading source of knowledge on the Dual Control gimmick and as ever, his high quality standards and level of detail in explanation make this an essential MUST-HAVE this Christmas! It has been a thorough delight to work again with Michael on this project and in fact both the previous projects that have seen release throughout the course of the previous year and I very much hope that ypu enjoy the Dual Control Revisited as much as I did learning about it and as I also do now performing it. Look out especially for Michael's tips on how to use the gimmick on how to open up almost any table-hopping situation with this fabulous gimmick. http://www.alakazam.co.uk/ |

Hey - I'll put my vote in for Gary Plants rising deck. I picked one up recently and it is EXCELLENT! You can't really do it in spectator's hands, but the cards rise from the box, and the complete deck, chosen cards, and box are COMPLETELY examinable right after the effect. Which is a big plus in my book. It's one of the more expensive rising card effects - but totally worth in my opinion.

Thanks for the incredible advice. I ordered the Devano deck from Martini's magic.com.
I have missed having this one for a while. I will never forget performing this at a blue collar factory, putting the deck on a table, and surrounded, letting the spectator's card rise. to them, really making the statue of liberty disappear would not have been any better. thanks to you, my trusted colleagues, I will also pursue a looper type of effect. I believe having a Devano deck around is good for a no-prep trick, while a looped type rise would be good for a more critical audience. Thanks so much! I believe that a card rise fills in a void where levitations are not possible to do cleanly due to visibility.... thanks to each of you for the great advice Scott |

The Kundalini rising is the best rising gimmick, but if you are talking about the we***t type, the Arne one is the best. (NOWHERE near Kundalini though)

I worked in magic shop which sold Arne's There were only ten times that we would have a batch of 20-30 decks where almost all of them would work fine. The rest of the time all of the decks worked just good enough or not at all. Other times not one single good pack in the batch. That is My opinion of course. But the other's that I worked with had the same feelings on the Arne as well. |
