I just remembered... The ending to a rather obscure horror film; "Night of the Comet." Also very decent, but it ties into the pre-comet part of the film, it doesn't stand alone very well the way the last line in "Some Like It Hot" does!

My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Films with endings I enjoyed:
Holes (I love the way all the generational stories tie together!) A Few Good Men Big (Especially Elizabeth Perkins' expression as Josh changes back into a boy) |

The ending is her driving through the desert town, speaking into the tape recorder to prepare her son for what's to come. She stops for gas, and the little kid takes her picture, then sells it to her, then points off into the distance and says something in Spanish...THEN we get the last lines of the film... Sarah: "What did he say?" Old Man: "He said there's a storm coming." Sarah: "I know."

Soylent Green and A Boy And His Dog - both writers hated the film versions.
Harry Harrison felt that "Soylent Green" missed the point of his novel "Make Room! Make Room!" Harlan Ellison SCREAMED that he wanted the ending of "A Boy And His Dog" re-looped so the pun in the last line could be taken out... but he was only the writer and didn't really matter. I remember the "cheezy" days of life on Times Square. One of the theaters ran that film with the poster altered so it read; "A PSYCHO Boy and his KILLER Dog." I have to imagine the ticket buyer was less than enthralled with what he actually saw after buying his ticket.
