Planet Of The Apes (1968) starring Charleston Heston has a wondefully startling twisted ending!

When I was a kid, I didn't see the ending of Old Yeller coming. Since then, I've made a point of reading the book before seeing the film.

You know. I saw the "surprise" ending in "The Illusionist" coming a mile away, and have had many people say the same. I don't think that hurt the movie one bit. "The Illusionist" wasn't really about the surprise ending. It was about character interaction, and human nature.
I am a real squirrel when it comes to these kinds of movies. Didn't see "Fight Club" coming at all, nor "Unbreakable", but for some unexplained reason, I deduced the ending of "The Sixth Sense" within the first 5 minutes of the movie. The "Prestige" surprised me, if you want to call it that. I found the surprise ending in "The Prestige" to be more of a "Satanus ex machina". An ending conjured out of thin air. It surprised me because I would never expect the ending to have been something that absurd and ridiculous. See, I'm naive, I still think that movie makers respect me, and wont insult me. Day 7 |

There is an 1982 Christopher Reeve/Michael Caine movie called "Deathtrap" that has more twists than a Chubby Checker impersonator convention.
If you can pull it off in a biker bar without being violated by a corn dog, more power to you.

There was a terrific tv movie in the late '70s called "Murder By Natural Causes."
It starred Hal Holbrook as a mentalist and Katherine Ross as his unfaithful wife. It was a thriller with tons of twists that you didn't see coming--especially the end. I still remember the last line: "I've got a suggestion for you darling...why don't you read my mind?" I wish they'd release it on DVD. Dan Day 7

No Way out. Kevin Costner was in it. The scene with Costner standing on one side of the two way mirror and speaking to the whoever (Whomever?) was on the otherside of it really suprised me. If you have seen the movie you know what I'm talking about.

DeathTrap, a murder movie where you know who did it right away, it's who is going to survive it that comes into question. Now that's a twist.
