I have not done a lot of gospel magic, but what I have done is topical (destroyed and restored; Jesus restores, Vanishing; Jesus takes away sin, something with a heart; Jesus loves you, etc) What I am interested in is telling the great stories of the Bible with illusion. I do some work in the mission field in third-world countries and the power of story is impressive. In fact amoung illiterate and oral-traditioned people it is story that reaches them. Does anyone have routines that present a story from the Bible?
P.S. Here are some very interesting links of groups using story to reach the world. Gods-story.org Story4all.com NTMbooks.com |

I have done a few trips and have worn out my "Laflin Illusions and Truth Book one and two". They have some great ideas. Peter and prayer, Acts 12:5-7. Persistence in prayer, LOTA Blessing, The Blind man's cane, etc.. I use at least eight of the twenty-one routines. You can probably find them at "Lock Family Magic". ChrisG

Friar, check out my site to see some examples of routines that I've done for television. I do a spot called Kids Thought so check out totalfamily.net and it might give you some seeds of thought.

How about using Story Sticks to tell your stories with. Such a simple prop (4 sticks hinged so they can be bent into straight line, a square, and just about anything else). And talk about easy to pack up and carry! Kif Anderson has some very great ideas for them. I'm sure there are a few other people out there who have Bible stories for them too.

It is well worth checking out Terry's site. It only takes ten minutes to get ten great ideas. Terry will you be at the FCM International the IWU campus in July? ChrisG

Thanks for the nice compliment Chris...
As far as the convention goes, it all depends whether I have a Crusade booked or not. There's such a need for strong evangelism to our children in churches so that takes priority over anything else. I was out of town last year ministering but I would love to attend. |

Terry awesome site. These are all really powerful and practical magical object lessons. I plan on using some if that's alright. But what I was initially looking for were ways to present stories from the Bible in a magical way. If you will I am looking for ways to present expositional messages as opposed to topical messages. The creation account, David and Goliath, Jesus and the Samaritan woman, etc. Maybe even a magical way to present some of the parables. The mote in the eye, Pearl of great price, etc. Has anyone done something along these lines?
