Hi guys, I got the advice to really try to make the faro look like a normal riffle that I do and after playing around with it for a day or so, this is where I am at.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goDS5KhKqxM

Do you have any pointers? Except that I need it to be faster and smoother?

Geeze. I don't know how reliably you can do that. Or if you have to stare at it or anything like that. But the shuffle itself looked great. You got right into it with no screwing around. No excess tapping the packets together etc. Well done!

Watching Kims videos is starting to become like walking through a prize rose garden. You just look around and say "There's a beauty. There's another beauty. Hey, look at that beauty! Wow, did you see that beaut"? lol!

I'm not complaining, it's fun to see. Thanks for the vid, Kim.

Hey Vandy, thanks for commenting. I can do it quite well if I have a deck that is good for it so to speak. I have only played with that technique for about 4 hours so I am notwhere really good at it. That is more or like a prototype, I hope to be pleased with it in a couple of months. Glad you enjoyed it.

I love the fact that you can't see no weave, it makes the shuffle more real to me.

That's one of the things that makes it so nice. It looks as much like a riffle shuffle as any I've seen. The thumbs move up and it does look like the cards are just falling from the thumbs. If you can cut at 26 and do the initial move where you place the corners together, casually, it would look really good I'll bet.

That is what I hope to be able to do in a few months Vandy. I'll post a new video so you can give me an updated opinion.

I have used Faro shuffles in formal poker games dealing to well known poker players and IMHO no one attaches significance to them except perhaps knowledgeable mechanics and magicians. Just place the corners together and do it! An off balance Faro looks more natural and they quite useful in some games like Gin. Also at the table it doesn’t matter if you get discrepancies in the faro shuffle bearing in mind that one can still calculate see Marlo RCT. Mind you I guess it depends on what your trying achieve with them. Also bear in mind a Faro is fair shuffle I seen croupiers use them in casinos. My main point is just do it openly as you can’t hide the obvious anyway and to anyone knows what a Faro is it always going to be obvious to them.

Hey Tommy, thanks for your input. Perhaps you are right, perhaps it is not possible to do a faro without knowledgeable people would notice. But as Doc has said earlier, sometimes you practise something not only to use it but to show people that it can be done. Honestly, I want to become the best some day, like Steve Forte, and I will do everything I can, to make all the moves I practise, as perfect as possible. It doesn't really matter that I don't have to be able to faro the entire deck perfectly, I still want to be able to do it, better than anyone else in the world. Same with all the other sleights I am and will be practising in my life (more or less) Smile That has nothing to do with getting the money but to please my practising ego, becoming the best.. of course I want to get the money but I definitely prefer doing it with a perfect faro that doesn't have any tells then with a halv decent faro. You get my point?

Take care,

Kim

Yes I get your point and understand it. I only go on about games here because this is after all the gambling spot and I just assume that things shown here are intented for for the table rather than for magic or for show.

KEMs are pretty easy to use. Paper cards often just will not have it if you have not sanded them smooth first. Sanded decks are cool for magic but you can't really take them to a game.

Anyway whatever you are doing for, your technique looks cool to me. I would say just keeep practicing what your doing as its a thing you just get better at once got the basic idea.

That's a very nice table faro Kim, you also clearly show the "optical" advantages of making a table faro look more like a stock riffle shuffle.

Tommy, I will definitely use some of the techniques I do at the table. When the right moment comes, when the players feel comfortable with me etc, but I would of course rather make a living as Steve Forte have done and that is why I want to become the best and have "perfect" moves. I don't need them to be perfect at the table, just if I want to become the best, but why not? Smile I will keep practising, just thought I'd ask you about it, so I don't get a bad habit of some sort. It is really difficult to get rid of them (like the tapping of the packets). Anyway, if no-one sees anything wrong, I will just keep practising to make it quicker and smoother.

Thanks.

Hehe. I only assume Mr Forte has quite a lot of money. Of course, if I knew I could have a successfull cheating career with lots of money, then I wouldn't mind cheating for the rest of my life Smile.

You'll have a successful cheating career just don't get the curse of being lazy to go out and hustle like me. I don't know if it's God who's changing me or what but every hustler I talk to say that I should be rich and I'm not.

I should be in New Orleans now. I had a free ticket to go and was still too lazy to get off of my butt and go.

A man who doesn't work (hustle) doesn't eat (make a lot of money).

Doc, may I ask you, do you hide what you do for a living for friends, family, girlfriend etc? Is that even possible?

I don't know how I would handle it.

Well Z, it is. Point being that if I can do this casually and with the same speed as my normal shuffle, hopefully, it will fool most people. Even people in the know. That is at least what I strive for.

Too answer your question no but you should. If your wife, girlfriend or friend knows what you do and they get ****ed with you, they can always come to your gambling spot and tell all of your friends/associates. Even though I did not adhere to that rule, that's what a real hustler is suppose to do.

I have a friend who cheats, the one that cooled the sucker down a couple of nights back. He never told his wife that he cheat at cards and they played cards all the time. I think I wrote about this one time before that he let me break his wife at a card game and we both split down her money. I spoke to him about it at another time after I found out that she was his wife and said, B**** I didn't know that she was your wife. He said so what, I told her that she shouldn't gamble because people cheat and that she could lose her money. He said she wouldn't listen to him so he broke her in card games every chance he could get (this was in wild poker games). His wife died some years back and after I heard that I asked him when I saw him did he ever tell her that he cheated and he told me no.

A Little About My Friend

I met my friend through my billionaire friend who died last year from the islands. When I came around Brooklyn beating everybody the club members put this guy on me and I beat him too; the game was knock rummy. I didn't beat the guy too bad because I didn't want to rank myself by beating the best in the club. This would have made no one else play me in the future. We later became friends through Chapelton.

How did you beat him Doc? I kept dealing myself all low cards and kept laying my hand down on him. This made him lose even though he would play with extra cards. Why? He couldn't get rid of his extra cards fast enough when the hand was over (to those who don't know knock rummy; it's a Gin game played with 7 cards and four people).

StoryTime:

This here friend told me a story before of an encounter while he lived in London but I really didn't pay attention to the story until he repeated it for Apollo Robbin's of "The Real Hustle" who knew exactly whom he was talking about in a diner just before they were about to film the show; the show that I should have been in but they cut me out.

B**** told us of the time when he played one of the Krays some kind of game that they normally play over there and he beat him. After beating him in some kind of club that they frequent the Kray got up and didn't want to pay him and walked away towards the bathroom or to some other part of this club. As he kept ignoring my friend, my friend kept saying "you've got to pay me" as the Kray kept on ignoring him, the members of the bar/club started feeling uneasy because they didn't know what Kray was going to do.

Kray said that you cheated me and B***** said I didn't cheat you and if I did you never said anything while we was playing. You're just saying that because you lost and you don't want to pay me. B**** said he then raised his voice speaking to the owner of the bar/club and said "Tell this man to pay me my money." He said that everybody really started feeling uneasy especially after the bartender didn't say anything; no one wanted to get this Kray upset.

My friend never moved from the table while waiting for his money. After a short time the Kray came over to him and said to everyone in the club, you know what? I like this guy. He's not a punk. He stands up for his no matter what. He's part of my family now (as he paid him) and you all better respect him as such when he comes in here or you'll have to answer to me.

The Krays since that day backed him to play anyone that challenged him. He told Apollo, Ava, Adam Green of the New Yorker and I if I can remember correctly that he never lost (he always played heavy). I asked him was he nervous when that happened and he said hell yeah, especially after I found out that the sucker was one of the Krays. He said that he had to fake it out because he was broke and needed that money bad.

My friend said when you're young, you do all kinds of stupid and foolish things and don't even know that you're getting yourself into deep trouble. (I guess this is why God always take care of fools and babies).

I think if you slow down your regular shuffle and speed up the faro a tiny bit, it will look good... Man, I wish I had your enthusiasm when it comes to this stuff...
