Hi Guys,
I've just finished my new site on my MAC. I would like to know what you think of it. I know I need some better photos & I need to fix a mistake on the FAQ page with the word burst! I will also be adding some video footage aswell. I did the whole thing on iweb. I am not great on computers, however I am pleased with the results. But I would like to here if you think I should change anything or add anything. Here is the link

Many thanks

Tried it three different times, it scrolls incredibly slowly, probably the server it is on, content looks ok, though I think the "about" page could use some work to be a little more defining, you leave yourself too much of a mystery man on that page.

Please rember that once you visit a page once the content will load agian very quickly. So Wizzo your laptop may be misleading you. Did you design the site on your lap top? I personaly find that designing a finished site on a lap top is in bad form. Its a good start. A little confusing but still very good.

Hi Louis:

I had trouble getting it to scroll, too. I'll try again later.

Hi Wizzo,

Wow, this is a great site. I would have thought you paid someone to do it! I think it looks great, I love all of the colors.

A couple of suggestions:

I've heard that it is better to load the pictures as jpegs instead of gifs. For the same sized file, you get a better image.

Also, it took a while for the pages to load for me as well, and I have a pretty fast cable connection. Depending on the percentage of people in your market who are likely to have broadband connections, versus dialup connections, you might want to think about trading out some of the graphics and replacing them with either smaller images or text.

Finally, if you are hoping to have the site come up on organic search results, you will need to provide the search engines with more text to index. It appears that most of the text on your site is embedded in images.

Congratulations on great looking site--I love the color scheme!

No trouble getting it to scroll, but the scroll was choppy.
I liked to web page, but one thought: If you have to scroll down to read the copy, I feel that your contact information should also appear on the bottom of the page, (as wel as the top), and in all cases, should be large enough to stand out so it's easily spotted.

Two things that may sound contradicting but here goes.

I like the "comic book" look that you have created. It looks nice graphically and shows off your persona.

The negative (and this is a pet peeve of mine) is that the text on all of your headings is done in a font that is just not "eye friendly." It makes the viewer work a little harder making out what it says. I'm a strong believer in keeping fonts simple. You want them to be able to scan the page quickly and not stumble over the text (especially when the text is your stage name!)

I completely understand that you chose that particular font to make it cartoonish. But, you can maintain that same comic book feel by using a font that's easier to read, and is bigger at the near end and smaller at the far end like in this superman example: http://www.dynamicforces.com/images/SupermanCv654.jpg

Another alternative... Go here: http://www.dafont.com/ click on cartoon and download an easy to read font (for FREE) that accomplishes both goals!

Hope all that made sense...

Thank you so much for all of your comments. I will look into the scroll thing and the fonts. I will add my info at the bottom of each page as well.
Thanks again everyone for your time!

I too really liked the comic book feel to it. Visually it had a nice feel to it. However, my ageing PC hated it. I had to close Internet Explorer down before my PC would do anything again. This is something you should bear in mind. If I was a potential booker with an old PC I may well have moved on to look at someone else's website.

I tried to load this page twice. I get to the home page and my browser freezes. I am using IE, and this has never happened before that I can recall.

Thank you for letting me know,
I have just had a go on my daughters PC and some of the fonts are different and it was jumpy. I don't know why that is. It works fine on my both of my Macs. Thanks again for letting me know. I will have to look into it!

Yeah...it crashed my IE too, and I too have a decent connection speed. What I saw of it looked OK though.

I have been reading comics for a long time. They were 12 cents(american) when I started buying them. Love the look and the energy pictured and text.

The name Wizzo reminded me of a clown we had in our area (Kansas City/USA) back in the 50's and 60's.

I too have not gone to video other than one on my harmonica skills. Slide show links are featured on my sight as well.

On my reading table....(The Bible, Civil War various issues from Marvel Comics), and By George a tale from a ventriloquist figure's point of view)

Speed could be an issue to your consumers. As an IBM member I did get a very useable (to me and my consumers site) Not perfect..the most difficult thing is the long name...but I tell my consumers to google Laughology and Harris and it pulls right up. The other thing is I send potential consumers (with permission and their emails gathered from business cards) a direct link to my site.

Wizzo,

Creating websites are always so time consuming, aren't they Smile

Me thinks you are using iWeb to create this? If so, I'd suggest extending the left and right sides out.

I think you might also have too many colors going on, which usually shouts amateurism Smile If you got rid of the aqua it might look better.

Lastly, consider making your dynamite picture more predominate/larger. It's a nice photo, so showcase it!

Best of luck,
Tod

P.S. I agree with Lyndel on the font. Good advice.

Crashed my IE also, twice.
I won't be trying the site a third time, and neither will potential clients.

You need to get that sorted.

I've tried it on three browsers (IE, Safari, Firefox) and had no problems. Over all a nice site. I'm with Lyndel on the font choice. Good luck with it.
