I was impressed with the contents of the package & it looked good on the dvd too - though the dvd made me want to punch the screen, who ever decided it was a good idea to move from b&w to sepia to colour and have white flashes repeatedly needs to take a long hard look at themselves. There was also a banging/dropping noise throughout which was distracting. Now I try not to comment on items before I've fully tested them or used them on the public but I felt after reading Russell's post justified to do so. The reason being that after using it for a short time I'm experiencing the exact same issues and need to decide if I should give up before facing days of frustration. The hoodie on the DVD is so long it's 50% hoodie 50% dress. I was intending to use a leather jacket but it's just not long enough and even medium size items can dangle. I also wanted to vanish larger items, which is why I purchased the Gecko, if it worked with these it'd be worth the setup & practice but if it only really works with smaller items then I can achieve the same or similar using more traditional gimmicks, or even better sleight of hand! I found myself wondering why the creators went for the elastic approach when a reel would have worked better - in fact I may even create this setup myself. I also found the elastic would get caught easily in the brake when trying to reach the gimmick & it's difficult to get the right balance between having enough tension to successfully pull the item into my jacket but loose enough to actually hold the gimmick ready to vanish an item. I also found the gimmick hard to hold (though I haven't tried the gripper yet), it feels like it wasn't quite designed right and coupled with the tension issues I'm struggling to make my hand look natural. It sounds like the new DVD will help with some of these issues but I'm loathe to buy what in part feels like a bug fix and I don't want to throw good money after bad. I'm willing to give this a go and put the effort in but my fear after reading the comments on the Café is that it'll be wasted. Not being able to vanish larger/heavier objects whilst wearing a short jacker or shirt is kind of a deal breaker. I'm going to keep going with it & if I do have more luck with it I will certainly update my comments to reflect this. |

How much force do you need to apply as the elastic is fairly strong and when released it doesn't retract fast enough I find can someone give me some help

Just a bit of an update to say I totally gave up on this. Easily my most frustrating & disappointing purchase in years & I'd even go as far as to say that it doesn't work as advertised, the demo video really plays on vanishing larger objects but it just doesn't seem practical. My advice to anyone thinking of purchasing this is to spend your time working on your slight of hand & to save your money.

Great demo video....but you cant vanish the bottle or other big items cuz of the sound the gimmick does...

I have skinny fingers, and cannot grip the gimmick without it slipping out.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Eat lots of cakes over the next 2-3 months and you'll find it will work just fine.
When the chips are down, the duvet is uncomfortable.

Lol. Serious. By the time I have enough tension, I cannot grip the clip between my fingers and it slides out. I had to employ a fishing line ala Raven.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
