Birds, or steel?
BTW, George, do you know who Jody is? I heard once, that he/she went to fight in Belfast? |

I knew someone would ask that. Steel (or cast iron not sure).
Jody? I'm not sure. Are you serious or is there a punchline coming? |

I'm usually in the study at home. On Saturdays, I take my kid to the library where we use the computers there. (It's a weird thing, I use to take him to the library before we had a computer of our own and he got into the habit. So now, I have to take him off the computer in the study to take him to the library to use the computer!!!)
Sometimes, right now for example, I'm using my daughter's laptop which is tied into the modem of the study computer!

Early afternoon here in a small town outside of Nagoya, Japan. My home office is on the 7th floor of an apartment building, so in about a month, I'll have a great view of a lane of cherry trees in full blossom. But now it's still a winter scene -- overcast without a hint of green on the trees yet.
I can't get out much these days since a trick knee tricked me, and now I have to keep it straight and wait for the swelling to go down... Bummer. Magic Santa, I too fled the Northern California money pit a little over a year ago, but in my case, it was "fleeing to" rather than "fleeing away from." I'm now in Japan's money pit. But I always thought that Northern California was a warm and friendly place. Maybe that's because I was comparing it to the place I lived in before that: the L.A. area. Bill |

I would love to live in the L.A. area... I used to live in Oxnard.
But I don't think I could afford it... or survive it!

I'm in my nothern NJ living room browsing the Café; occasionally glancing at the TV show "Little People, Big World"; munching on Lays potato chips; drinking cold, green and considering taking a nap since I've been up since 3 a.m.

Ah ha, cheers Justin. I kind of thought it was a joke I didn't get. I do love a lot of Bowie's early stuff. I might go hunt that album down. Give us a shout if you're in Belfast.

I'm shivering on the southern edge of the Boreal Forest. The sky is big and blue and in spite of a metro population of around a million, we still have a lot of forest in the city. Deer, coyotes and snowshoe hares visit my street most days. Once or twice a year I see a moose or two.
Winter is not so bad, but it is long. But there is always hope. Yesterday I saw a couple of mallards on the small strip of open water on the North Saskatchewan River. A few crows have already come this far north. I suspect I'll see the eagles passing through in a few weeks. John Day 2

I am here in my house on Douglas Lake in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. I have a hot tub on the back patio, and the yard is full of birds. Spring is almost here!
