Hello Jack,
I think Danny is referring more to "truths" based on fact and experience. Someone shows up here and posts of a new effect they think they invented and those like Danny try and tell them that it's been done before and BOOM a fight starts. Others come up with the idea that they will buy a subtrunk and hit the Cruise Ship market to become rich and famous. Danny tells them that's not how its done and BOOM another fight starts. As you say... much of the truth here on the Café is opinion but quite often its opinion based on experience which really does make it a truth of sorts. I've also been caught up in some of these battles. Just check out the thread in Grand Illusions where I try and tell someone the facts as to why his ideas aren't burning up the discussion boards. LOL A little piece of advice and BOOM it becomes a fight real fast. Best, Tim |

The word "fallacy" also is subjective is it not? I know you like to pretend how you want to "argue with logic" so it makes you seem superior and us mere mortals can't withstand the barrage of your intellect. But Drew, should we speak of what YOU have a reputation for? It is exactly what I just said. See YOUR reputation is of a guy who does not work much, pontificating about nonsense and biting around the edges of a point and never really dealing with anything in a straight forward manner. This way you can sit at your computer and seem superior. Now this may be "fallacy" or whatever and if it makes you feel better think of the Franklin quote as "The sting in any rebuke is from the---------" and insert your own word so you feel better and understand. Opinions are not usefull for self improvement? Your kidding right. EVERYONE tells someone for example, they are a pompus jerk. That they come off as argumenative, superior, and generally look really silly when they try to pontificate on things. You are telling me that the sum of those opinions will not help with self improvement? Figures. Drew the TRUTH is I have done shows that suck. HAPPENS. So if people say that the show sucked that night, it hurts. So when I do good ones and someone says they suck, well I know different and it does not hurt. Your post added nothing to the example, except to maybe prove my point. Thank you.

I didn't notice any difference from any of the ones who took part.

You didn't officially participate in the experiment but you still did in a way. In quite a positive way I might add. LOL Best, Tim |
