Does anyone have-use this?
Hard to believe the instructions actually say something like: "Pour a spoonful of GASOLINE into the tube..." How SAFE is/was this prop? I can't see it ever coming back onto the market (though, I'd buy one if it were available) |

That ranks up there with the evil HOT ALUMINUM FOIL, I think.

Hi
Abbotts has a prop called Gas Light in their misc section, a direct link is below. http://www.magicgettogether.com/mm5/merc......ode=Misc I think Alan Shaxon might have performed it at last years Get Together, not sure but I remember someone doing it. If this is what you are looking for I would suggest calling Abbotts to find out about safety concerns, I just remember seeing it. |

Wow - I didn't know that Abbott's still sold this. ---thanks.
I do have a copy of older Abbott instructions - and it does say to use "A teaspoon of GASOLINE!" (boy, have times changed). At least now, they've changed it to say lighter fluid. Would be interested in hearing what kind of reactions this prop gets, from users. |

Alan Shaxon did do this last year. It uses white gas (coleman fuel).
As for safety, I think I would pass. I also remember Alan worrying about breaking the mantles on the pipes as they are very delicate. It is an old time effect that only plays if you can control all the music and lights. Richard
