I'm a private pilot - love taking the Piper up and wandering California and the southwest. Played drums in a band for about five years and we toured and released a few records. Working on the piano now

I love watching Parkour and Freerunning, but I'm too big to be able to do it without hurting myself.
I also like to watch many combat sports, including Thai Boxing, MMA, and Sumo.

In times past, I was quite a chess player and pool player.
When I was in high school, a friend and I were playing next to then-world-9-ball-champion Earl Strickland. We didn't know who he was until we went up to the front to pay for our table. The guy behind the desk clued us in, and we sheepishly went back to watch him play. He was very nice and talked to us for two hours as he sprinted around the table making shot after shot. It was a religious experience. I guess you can call math and (theoretical) physics a hobby these days. I used to be a mathematician, but now I only occasionally read math or physics for fun. Oh, and cooking. I don't know if it's strictly a hobby since it's also necessary to do, but still... |

I make art from time to time, paintings, drawings, etc. I collect Scandinavian ceramics and some glass,
as well as vintage European postcards and travel posters from places I've visited. Don't know if I'd call it a hobby, but I love traveling, mostly to Europe for all the great art & architecture.

Originally magic was one of my hobbies. Eventually the hobby turned into my profession. Even though I still enjoy magic I find myself doing many other things that people would consider hobbies. It's just nice doing something once in awhile that has nothing to do with magic whatsoever. I guess what I mean to say is; when magic becomes your job it is nice to get away from it from time to time.
I play acoustic guitar (love my Ovation), base, drums and some keyboards. Played trumpet for three years when I was a school boy. Participated in several different bands over the years (mainly classic rock) and I was usually the drummer or sometimes filling in on rhythm guitar. Been drawing and painting since my fingers could hold a pen or brush and can draw or illustrate pretty much anything. Did a lot of sign painting when I was a kid to earn extra cash. Created a comic strip called SNAKE EYES when I was fourteen which eventually ended up in newspapers everyday. I did that for about ten years but got burned-out. I still like to illustrate and am slowly working on designing several different decks of playing cards. Really got into computer science around 1978. Learned to program and ended up producing several video games in partnership with a couple friends. Designing the games and doing animation was a real learning experience for me. These days my real hobbies include flying RC Helicopters (a lot of fun), listening to music, watching movies (especially Science Fiction), studying history (inparticular anything to do with the American civil war), Producing dvds, and writing. I am currently working on multiple book projects. I do have other interests but really there are only so many hours in a day.

LobowolfXXX asked; "What are your favorite sic-fi movies?"
That's a tough question to answer as there are so many to choose from! Films that quickly come to mind include: The Day the Earth stood still (the original - the remake was a train wreck), Forbidden Planet, Stargate, Stargate SG1 the series, Babylon 5 (movies and series), Battlestar Galactica (the original series and the remake series), The Prisoner, The Twilight Zone series, X-Files series, The Time Machine (original & remake), Timeline, Timecop, Army of Darkness, The Matrix (all 3 films), The Terminator (first 3 films), Alien, Silent Running, Logan's Run, Back to the Future (all 3 films), Robocop, War of the Worlds (original), Star Wars (all 6 movies), Star Trek (all 7 films), Star Trek (original series), Star Trek TNG, Star Trek Deep Space Nine, Star Trek Voyager, Star Trek Enterprise, The Andromeda Strain (original movie), The Planet of the Apes (original movies & both remakes), The Omega Man, and many many more. Al Angello said; "Steve It's good to hear from you" Thanks Al. I try to post when I can but only if I can add something to the conversation. I'm so busy most of the time that it is nice when I can actually participate on my own website.

Love your list, Steve. It almost exactly mirrors my own favorites. I'd include "2001- A Space Odyssey," "Clockwork Orange" and "Dr. Strangelove."

It's a multiple-genre film, but my favorite sci-Fi flick (imo, it qualifies) is Donnie Darko.

I'm an artist also. I do caricatures as entertainment at parties and freelance caricatures ( http://caricature-artist-portland.com ). But for fun I mainly do oil painting http://www.saatchionline.com/profile/174970 . If any of you would like a caricature done for your website or coloring page, let me know.

Might have to take some scans from my sketchbook one of these days.
I have a whole set-up for pinstriping out in the garage as well. I go out and tinker with it in the Summer time, but I don't really have the hours in the day to get very good at it.
