I e-mailed, and the response was instant. My order HAD been sent the very next day.
Something happened that has nothing to do with Mr. K. Nathan's immediate response was very nice...a class act. Krintz |

My set was waiting for me upon return from vacation (they took about 4 days to receive, after payment). I was glad to know in advance about the potentially tight fit, and was careful to select appropriately sized halves from my collection. You can't really choose by year (some 1995s were a perfect fit while others were not), it is more a question of wear. I had no trouble finding a good number of matches, and I even like the fact that some of these fit snugly. Two for $20 is a bargain, and I'll likely get another pair. Kudos to Kranzo for sharing a great find!

Hey krintz, I ordered them a fews weeks ago.......well to be exact I think the coins came approx. 2 weeks after the order I guess. The thing is I live in HK, so it might be a bit different for you.

I still have not received my coins. I'm trying to work it out with them.
By the way, I'm in SoCal... I know we have our share of problems here, but shipping hasn't been one of them

Update...
I never received the coins, but did get a complete refund from Kranzo. Dammit... I think there was an address problem...I don't know any other explanation. There was never a hesitation in Nate's responses... he got back to me very quickly. Honestly, I think that this was just a quirk. Quirk happens. So, anyway, I bought one for 10 bucks here (the magic deal forum). Yes, it will fit some coins. Not the new ones, though. None of the post 2000's I own fit, and I've got a bunch. I've got enough halves, though, that it does fit some of them. It has a weird sheen to it. There may be a way to scuff it up, but why bother? Do I regret buying one? It's ten bucks! Of course not! But Nate Kranzo has a rep... |

Has anyone tried these with 1964 Kennedy's? How is the look and fit?

It doesn't fit any of my 64's, but mine are all uncirculated, so no wear. It doesn't match, look-wise anyway. I tried shining it, but it still doesn't match regular halves. Next, I'll try to figure out a way to dull it.
One of the selling points is that you can briefly flash the reverse side, and you can indeed do this. BTW, I meant Nate has a good rep... hope that was conveyed. Krintz |

I received two of these yesterday, and an actually quite impressed and pleased with them. They are a tight fit for most of the halves I tried, but I am confident I can put together a usable set.
Although not a perfect match for either the clad coins or silver, they seem to be "close enough" in between to pass for either. The lack of coloration on the edge is a concern with clad coins, but I'm thinking a brown or orange sharpie will fix that. I'm also thinking one of these will make a good lapel coin to flash during a one coin routine, as in Roth's single coin routine. All in all, I think these are a good bargain. Don

Don,
The shell that comes with the Hooser DVD "Shellshocked" is indeed this shell. I've had varying reviews of the shell from magicians, but most say it's a pretty good shell for the money, and some actually prefer it. I had the same concerns as you regarding the edge, however, you're the first other person I've seen mention it. Yeah, it's tough finding coins to fit the shell, and once you do, you'd better not drop any of them. A ding on the edge can create a "locking" shell feature. Your idea of using this shell for a lapel coin is a great application, IMHO.

Hi Curtis,
I have already found that with one of the coins I have here, the shell will lock if its oriented in a particular way, but release if I rotate it. I'm trying to figure out a way to use this. Don

Older thread resurrected recently. I've gotten 2 of these recently and they're both a pretty loose fit on almost all of my halves, all of them post-1964. I wish it were a *bit* more snug.

64's are fairly hard to find around here and are fairly expensive online. I'd wager the average magi is looking for more of something he/she can use with normal circulation-quality halves if they're going for a less expensive shell such as this. It's a great, inexpensive tool; however, I simply wish it worked with "normal" coins.
1964 halves are not "normal;" they're 90% silver. Cheapest I find them online is $9 shipped. For a carry-around 3-fly routine, that's $36 in silver plus a $15 [ you're carrying around.....$50 approx. More than many wish to carry for magic at a moment's notice, which is why I purchased the UV Shell. I've got nicer ['s for my strolling gigs, but I don't carry them around with me everywhere I go... Tally-ho! And Tuscarora too!
