Spectator is given the opportunity to play the part of the magician. Deck is given to spectator. Spectator shuffles freely. Magician is then asked to select a card from the deck, look at it, remember it, and return it to the pack. Deck is then genuinely shuffled again by the spectator. Lastly, spectator asks the magician what card he/she selected. Magician states his/her card. Spectator makes a magic pass and turns over the top card... the magician's selected card has risen to the top of the pack with no fumbling, no handling, no prompting by the magician. Spectator has no clue as to method. This is an idea I'm playing with that is still in it's infancy stages. Unlike "Untouched", the faces of the cards do NOT need to be seen by the magician. The magician does not know the identity of his/her card prior to it's removal from the deck. No peeks, etc. Absolutely hands off. |

Depending how much trust you have; and how much control of the spectator, you could just have the entire deck be the same card. It's risky (probably too risky) but it would work!
Also a short card could possibly be used with the spectator ending the effect by cutting the cards (also too risky; and the spectator must cut with their hand lengthways, etc). I think the idea is great. It sounds like you already have a method?

Sounds like a marked deck would also do the trick.

Sounds very cool, have you seen David Regal's prophecy pack? That might do the trick.

I agree with Philemon, a marked deck such as the factory printed Fournier one would be ideal for this routine.

You could also use a breather crimped card. Although you may have to get the spectator to cut the deck more than once it would still fry 'em.
Plus, if you casually take the crimp out of the card, you could let them keep the deck as a souvenir of the magic they did! |
