Hello Fellow Jugglers,
Greetings from The Pasta Palace. We are currently in process of editing a new promo video and have put up the most recently edited version on BoobTube, I mean GoobTube... make that YouTube. We realize that the talking part is a little long. We are also working on putting together a short, action packed montage to put on the front end, so we hit them hard at the beginning with some action and "eye candy", before the talking part. So other than those 2 issues, we would love to hear some comments, remarks, and and constructive criticism that anyone might have. This is only the second "rough edit", so it is still in the creative process. Any and all comments will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to help out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Un4JjoEgkaw Sincerely, The Fettucini Brothers

I could go on, and on but PERFECT says it all, but on a different subject how do you pick your clothes? How do you write your dialogue, or jokes?

Going for a reverse image, or opposite, Ying/Yang thing with the black and white, when possible. For a long time, and still in some form, black and white polka dots are a big part of our look. I am constantly amazed at how often we would get comments on our wardrobe from women, when ever we went for our "Polka Dot" look. Women seem to love polka dots... go figure. For many years the Fettucini Polka Dot Jester Hats were our signature. We have gotten away from those more and more, now that we are mostly going for more "high end" and corporate work. The Bowling Shirt or "retro" look has been our casual or informal wardrobe lately. We still will occasionally wear the "Fettucini Polka Dot" jester hats on certain Childrens or Family Events. I am always trying to find fun, cool, unique, stuff "off the racks"... which is difficult sometimes. We have had custom stuff made in the past (the Fettucini Polka Dot Jester Hats, of course), but can be so expensive. I've never learned to sew, and sometimes I wished I knew how. Now... I'm rambling. I hope I answered your question in there somewhere. AL aka Steve

My look is a Garcia silk tie, and matching suspenders, I have over 20 different color suspenders. I feel that suspenders say juggler, but deciding for two is a whole nother subject. I don't thing it is the polka dots that catch the female eye. I feel that we are engaging, well dressed men and all women wish their husband were more like us. I can't tell you how many women have wisper in my ear "I wish my husband was more like you" Steve we are well dressed, fun, chatty, and not gay.

Which is kind of why I avoided wearing them. Every other juggler around here wore them. I did try them early on and did not like the feel of wearing them. Your last sentence brings up a good point. Most men are not all of those things without being the last one. Not to mention, women love a man that can make them laugh. That's how I got my wife. AL

Writing comedy, bits, and routines, as you all well know, is the most difficult and time consuming part of what we do. I, unforutnately do not have a very strong discipline or system when it comes to writing. I've always been envious of performers who have the discipline to write daily. Most of our best lines came about by improving them in a show. "It got a big laugh, so we kept it." I have finally gotten around to keeping my jokes, ideas, bits, routines and all of these little things in a computer database joke file. This has come in handy so many times to refer to when I need material. I also now have somewhere to store ideas as they come to me. I get my best ideas either during the show, or afterward, in the van on the ride home or to he hotel. I used to have to pull over and write these ideas down. Then someone told me to use my answering machine as a digital voice recorder. Now when I get an idea or something worked in the show and I want to remember it. I call home and leave myself and message with my ideas for jokes/bits/routines. I need to just get a personal digital voice recorder. But this system works for me. This would be a great subject for a whole seperate thread. Comedy writing tips, ideas, disciplines, theories, etc... Great question AL, AL aka Steve

It is almost exactly the same for me. The best ideas come from trial and error on stage, but when I'm in costume either on the way to or from a job the creative juices are flowing. I have a joke file on my computer, and sometimes I will carry a note with new material so I can spontaneously come up with them on stage. To be funny you must be sincere, or be good at faking it.

Scotty Meltzer gave a great mantra during his comedy writing workshop at one of the Motionfests: Write it down, write it down, or you'll always be a birthday clown.
It makes a succinct point; birthday clowns, please don't barrage me with a mountain of face paint and magic coloring books. Steve AKA Al- We open on April 16. We're the April fools. Do your taxes, then come get a laugh. Al AKA Al- I look forward to meeting you. Do you know when Harry's next show is? I met Mika on Friday evening at Pratt; she's really cool. Very passionate about her work, has lots of ideas and strong technique. Cares more about entertaining than doing 7 balls (which she can do). I like that a lot. -Brian |

Harry will post the dates of his show. You can PM me with the detals of your gig. I love visiting NYC, and I will go there at the drop of a hat. The more I go the less I spend, because going to the big apple is a real art.

This may just be the difference between attitudes in Britain and America, but to me listing your credits and saying how great you are yourself in the spoken bit makes you seem a little arrogant and unlikeable. I think if you have to mention things like the fortune 500 companies you are working for it should be someone else saying it. eg a voice over, written text etc. rather than you "blowing your own trumpet". I like the idea of having you talk direct to the client, but maybe show a little humility.
Or maybe that's just me seeing it as a Brit and it's ok in America? |

I had to go back and look at it again to understand your point, and my conclusion is that is the way we do it over here in America, and I don't think Penn and Teller would do it any differently, but I'll let a Fettucini talk about their style themselves.

What's there not to like about us?
Arrogant? No. Ego's? Yes. Over 20 years performing professionally can do that to you. Phil makes a point - anyone else feel that we come across less than humble and generally 'unlikeable'? We wanted to address folks from the top and give them background so when they watch the tape they know more about where we're coming from. So we looked the camera personally in the eye and did what we did. And that's why we're looking for feedback prior to rolling it out. Thanks for everyone's input.
