Vincenzo Ravina is one of the Café's own members. He recently created a new effect in which you give the illusion that your torso and legs are seperated behind a piece of cardboard or wood.
I just got a chance to look over the Microsoft Document and I must say that this is a very clever idea, and it works. It took me a matter of 10 minutes to build it (just a practice version) and it looks pretty darn cool! It's great how there is such a great distance between your torso and legs -- it's very different from Splitting Image. The construction itself is very easy. It doesn't take any special techniques by any means, and the materials should be readily available right around your house. If they aren't, they are available at the store, cheap! The illusion is fairly easy to perform. Of course, it's not a self-working trick by any means, but there isn't much difficulty to it. Some time in front of a mirror, or better yet, a camera, would definitely help in making this effect look flawless. The instructions were fine, except that I think a few more pictures would've been a little better. Other than that, they are great. There are even some additional ideas in the manuscript to use for some other types of situations, and giving some different types of effects, like a visual splitting. Overall, I like this. It is definitely usable, and is suitable mainly for stage. I think this would be a great prelude to Andrew Mayne's Pocket Sawing. It's inexpensive, a really cool idea, and very cheap to build. The end result is a really cool looking illusion that people will be sure to love. Andrew Mayne would be proud! Recommended.
