I was performing at a table, a mixture of adults and two children. As I was performing, a young boy around 9 or 10 walks briskly over to his dad, and in a
very matter of fact way looked his dad straight in the eyes and said; "Dad, I thought you said there was no such thing as magic." The boy was very serious and by the look on his face seemed very confused. I immediately looked at the dad and felt like I needed to apologize, in fact I did say "I didn't mean to cause any confusion" (or something like that) His dad said; "No that's OK" and told me to continue. Anyway I felt bad because I certainly didn't want to be a stumbling block in what his dad was teaching his son. I did say to the boy that he could do this too and that hid dad was right but he needed to go to magic school and that he would have to practice. I've never seen a boy so enthusiastic. He started picking things up from the table trying to make them disappear. The group thanked me for stopping by their table, but I did feel bad being the catalyst for a boy to question his dad. I think another future magician was born! Hopefully with his dad's blessing. (another day in the life of a restaurant worker) David Paul

Some think that magic is the work of the devil and teach their kids as such

It used to happen when the kids came into the restaruant in Key Largo. We got them few and far between but it did happen from time to time.
Once right after a Harry Potter move came out the parents had a discussion about magic not being "real" and then they came to the restaurant. Talk about timing LOL. It is a compliment.

Danny is right , take it as a compliment on your hard work as a Magi. The kid has probably only seen Uncle Pablo hack up the 21 card trick ( hey wait that's me!!). When exposed to pro magicians , Even adults doubt there disbelief.
Have a Magical Day!
