I have looked throught the forums and I cant find anything on fusing two signed cards has this been done before? I came up with a handling in which I could do this tho I don't believe that I woud be the first one to do this.

Yes there is already an effect called Anniversary waltz which has many handlings by many different people, some times it’s called a different name. If you type Anniversary waltz into the Café's quick search then you will find many threads on this subject.

Depending on how you are fusing the cards it has been done before the trick is called anniversary waltz and is most notably done for a 'couple' as it may imply a romantic theme. there are a few variations of this I think one is called aniversary salsa I might be wrong. this trick is for fusing two cards together as one using a df.

The original is called 'New York Transpo' kind of a red hot mama theme with a twist.

Doc Eason has a fine handling of this effect on vol 3 of his bar magic series.

I use a variation of Carl Andrews "Hula Fusion" I think it is called. I like it better because it uses blank cards on both sides, so it doesn't have the feel of a card trick, and I think makes a better give-away.

There is a lot of work on this plot. You might want to research a bit before dedicating too much more time. Could be you are reinventing the wheel. |

The original is New York Transpo? Man...oh well, some think NFW is original....
The original concept came from the mind of the brilliant and always delightful Wesley James in the late 60s. The original name is Forgery. This can also be found in Wesleys notes, the often misunderstood title being Stop Fooling Us. While the concept and first routine was created by Wes he, as a working pro, did not release it as he was not in the habit of selling his best material that he made his living with, the first release was around 1980 by the ever charming Mr. Richard Kaufman. Richard, it seems, feels he deserves credit for the creation and he certainly deserves creative for creativity it is well established that Wes created the original. Wesley didn't publish, I think, until around 82 after retiring from performing and becoming a success in the computer industry. It should be noted that Wesleys routine uses two regular cards and fuses the front to the back because he, like many magicians, feel tipping the double facer, as is done in The Anniversary Waltz...which the gregarious Mr. Eason based on another routine. That being said if you are performing walk around I would suggest going with Wesleys routine because you sign one of the cards. If performing for a couple you may want to check out Doc Easons version which can be bought separately but I'd get his DVD |

Yes I saw a performance of the double facer and that is the same exact handling I came up with, I did it after like 15 minute of fiddling with a double facer when I thought how cool It would be to FUSE two cards. Well that's card magic for ya, almost always there is someone who did some variation of what you "invented"

Magic Santa...wow I had totally forgot Wesley James! In my defense I have been on some really good pain meds lately. You are SO right though the concept is Mr. James'.
I was just telling someone the other day about Mr. Alford's effect too... |

I don't think it's a huge leap, but, the front and back of a regular playing card has an even more climatic impact without tipping a single thing. JTW, I actually perform Alford's original and it's pretty sweet. PM me and I'll send you a video. |

I wish to salute JTW and Karbonkid for mentioning Jason Alfords whos work is what JFW is based on (and it ain't an improvement) and it can be, maybe, bought from Jason if he still has them or you can find it in the Feb issue of Magic either 1999 or 2000.

Looking at the Carl Andrews dvd, again. I was wrong. "Hula Fusion" doesn't use blank both sides cards. HHmmm...maybe it was a Gregory Wilson trick. Oh Well, sorry.

Don't forget to check out the Mathew Dowden walk-around version "Walk around Waltz" - it's on his excellent DVD "Party Animal" - it's all done in the hands.

Any ideas on taking the vast amounts of the TNR piece by piece card effects for two different signed cards into a mismade card like Daryl's...two quarters of one chosen card and the other two quarters of the other card.
No matter How much you know you can never stop learning.
